I was recently listening to a local gaming podcast (NZGamer) and listened to a discussion about the term Clocking. They were asking listeners if it was just a new zealand-ish term or used world wide.
If you have never heard this term before and think im insane;
Clocking - To played a game to absolute completion, 100%

Is this one of those "pull the wool over the silly Americans' eyes" kind of words? You know, like "billabong" or "Foster's"? Is this like how Australians keep trying to get us to try Vegemite, even though no one there eats it? It's almost like you guys thinks we'll buy anything you say. "Clocking?" Yeah, right. I think it's about time you all knocked it off.

Wait, you really say that? Never heard it here in California.

New to me. I only ever use "clocking" to describe hitting someone when I'm tired of the words I normally use to describe hitting someone.

See what I mean! That wasn't English! That was... I don't know what the hell that was!

No, but seriously, well played. Note: I know Foster's is a brand of beer. Part of the joke.

Billabong is a legitimate word, and Vegemite is actually pretty popular here. I can't speak for Foster's though.

I've never heard of clocking though.

I don't believe you! You're a liar! Vegemite is like meat jelly or something!!! You Australians is crazy!!!!!

No really, I was joking about being ignorant when it comes to those down under. A friend of mine was an exchange student from Australia, and she ate Vegemite quite often. Encouraged me to avoid it actually, claimed it was an acquired taste...

I'm in the states and I've never heard of it. Perhaps it refers to a clock going full circle, or something like that...

I thought this thread was going to be about over clocking PC parts, so no haven't heard it used in the context you describe, I'm from the UK.
