Close Range [http://www.closerangegame.com/], the latest game by developer ERI, is set to redefine shooter games forever.

Critics have already hailed it as a masterpiece of design, and experts say that Close Range will influence all games that follow. Its deep storyline sucks players into a world that is harsh, gritty, and unlike anything that has been seen in a video game before.

You can play the demo at closerangegame.com, and I have to say...it blew me away.

Yes, it is a game by The Onion, the fake newspaper organization. Impressive that they actually made the thing, though.

While I am a tad annoyed that FPS games have been taken over (by force) by snipers and would appreciate an FPS centred around CQB I do think that a game centred around just shooting people point blank in the face may be pushing it a little (you do need a bit more variery than that if you plan to redefine anything).

Wow, this looks truly amazing. Finally, someone breaks the mould of repetetive FPS games where you play as the same cliched power-armored macho soldier killing the same enemies again and again, and actually try to present a character with emotional depth. The way they blend the storyline and gameplay together in the demo is superb, and I await the real thing with great anticipation.

Thanks for sharing this!

Back. Is this a joke? Is this an April Fool's joke? I mean, its shit!

The story is horrible, gameplay is laughable, the whole thing has no challenge and no point, and the talking sequences are cliche, especially the lady part. From "Who Are You?!" Five shots in the face later, "They got me..." "NOOOOOO! I LOVED HER!" Thank god they don't have voice actors!

No, no, I'm sure this is a joke.

OGN.com doesn't exist, (Well it does, but it looks like one of those stupid websites that appear if you misspell something)
Electronic Gaming Weekly is prob a parody of Electronic Gaming Monthly.
Game Insider doesn't exist either.

Yes, it was from the onion... and yes it is a fake game. The OP should probably site his post.

It is a joke. I believe it was originally from the Onion and the video is right there on the website.
