I.....

Urgh.

I want to say somthing but then it will just be like, WHY U WAN EVRY1 TO LEIK PNIES.

So could people who don't like the show not make threads about it. (Hating on it cartoons you don't like threads it tottaly fine as long as you don't accuse the fandom of Pedophilla or anything equally silly). And if anyone post a positve thread about ponies just don't read it.

On our side, just ignore the hate, or if it's pure trolling report and move on.

I don't hate it. I think maybe some of the more obsessive fans of the show need to grow up and learn to keep things in perspective. I enjoyed Pinky and the Brain plenty as a kid, and I can still laugh at it now, but it's, at most, a passing, pleasant sentiment.

There's a psychological concept called "regression" that I think explains much of the "brony" phenomenon. It's a defense mechanism - reverting to an earlier stage of life in response to some sort of stressor. Your mind goes to a place where you felt secure or safe or confident or successful, etc. - often a stage of your childhood. A straightforward example is curling up into the fetal position when in shock following a severe trauma.

But it happens on a milder, long-term scale, too. Returning to childlike behavior or a childhood enjoyment is a common regression. Who here hasn't fired up an old videogame or flipped to some mindless show on Cartoon Network when feeling stressed or blue? It's familiar and it reminds us of a more comfortable time. Regression is a common and effective way to de-stress or unwind. It becomes a problem when it reaches a certain level of fixation, where the regression begins to take over your life and prevents you from functioning as an adult and facing adult issues.

Bronies may be dangerously near that level. But if they can keep things in perspective and not let it control their life decisions and behavior, then brony-ism can just be an unusual hobby.
