Many people say that after getting closure, they are ready to move on to better things, but tonight that is the opposite for me. After a five year, lets call it a project, thing ended for me tonight, I can't help but wonder where in the hell do I go now or what should I do? It's like a giant gaping hole ready to swallow me, but I just stand in the middle of it unsure. My focus of 5 years is gone...where do I go now?

Anyone else have these sorta problems after a long sometimes hard thing ends for you? If so how did you end up dealing with it?

If it's a hobby thing, there's probably always something else to add for your hobby. If your hobby is, say, building steam-powered RC toys then just building one probably won't be enough.

But was your, er, project the result of a hobby, interest, or was it something a bit less pleasant to keep up?

I understand a bit were your coming from. Usually when this happens, I just roll on till the next thing comes along not really caring about anything till it comes...Albeit probably not the best way, but it works...

I don't know your problem so I can't help as much as I would like, but just keep your head up and things should be alright

That sounds less like closure and more like a loss of purpose. Look for a new purpose and you'll be fine.

All of this is IMO, eh. I hope it helps, but there's never one "cure all" I'm afraid...

You've gotta take it day-by-day, friend. Go out with friends, try new things, pick up a new hobby, distract yourself a bit. Don't run from it so much as try and fill your life with other, (positive) things.

Trust me though, while some wounds never quite heal all the way, you will get over it. You'll wake up one day and realize you haven't thought about it in a while, and it'll be a good day.

after 4 years of being w/ my gf we ended up breaking up like 3 or 4 months ago.

at first i got no closure on the deal and it drove me insane, i coudlnt sleep, focus, work, have fun, anything. i finally decided to call her, and tell her everything on my mind. i did and she was nice, she listened and then finally said goodbye.

sure, some might say i got all the closure one could dream of. however i still cant sleep, focus, work, have fun, or anything. it sucks. and closure is fake. once u lose something important NOTHING takes its place. which sucks.

No one thing will even fill that hole again, my advice is to find something to occupy you time and enjoy the time you have off, do some things that you couldn't do while you were doing this project.

Don't focus on what's gone, but what you going to fill that time with
