One purpose for the service might be to make the actual mate that users are pining after jealous, and more likely to desire them.
yes, screw communication, understanding and maturity, making others jealous is the answer for the worlds problems...

As weird as this sounds, I can see why you'd do it... if only to end the barrage of "still single // try online dating // hot girls want to meet you!"
considering i asked out a girl just to stop these annoying ads, i can say it's not that weird... is it that much weirder than a girl putting herself as "married" to her best friend just so she can hide her real relationship status?

Though on topic I think this weird guy that I know has made himself a fake girlfriend, considering she has 15 friends and one is me, and I've never met her.

Haha, i will order a girlfriend and a boyfriend, will have them both communicate and breeding the ultimate sentient AI that will take over the world!

seriousmode: Is the market of desperate lonely teens whose computer skills dont suffice to produce a fake profile for their immaginary girlfriend on their own really so big?
Why didnt i had the idea for the service?
2 dollars per week and after two month i charge 2000 for not telling everyone that it is fake muhahahahahahaha!

This looks....Awful....

Who besides Tales of Monkey islands, L4D, HL, MK, Heavy Rain, And Sweet Home fans would need a Fuckin' Virtual Girlfriend because they're too lazy to take a girl out for a Drink or something.

Makes me want to puke....Cocaine....

i would laugh if after a month, she dumps you
Then stalks you and sends emails to all your friends about how much of an ass you are. Afterwards you start receiving phone calls all night long starting from 2:30am and have pizza men show up in droves... AND ALL THEY HAVE IS TUNA PIZZA.

Before you know it your coworkers and friends are asking you why you broke up with your girlfriend and why you were so mean to her.

Alright...show of hands. How many people here read the title and thought of either Tifa or Aeris?

Come on, admit it! Several of you thought this! *points dramatically* ADMIT IT!!!

But seriously...what sad empty shell of what could barely pass as a human being would NEED this?

This is just sad. Though, it would be fun to see what outrageous parameters you can set.
I'm going to assume that there will be at least three that go along the lines of

1: Kinky

2: sex fiend

3: public displays of affection.

This is taking the old "my girlfriend lives in Canada" to the modern age; this is also dumb.

I don't even know why I still try to live here.
Look on the bright side. If this really takes off it will be a permanent drop in competition for all sane people.

Personally I can't think of any uses for something like this. If you post this fake relationship crap on facebook you're only going to make yourself miserable from all the nosy people grilling you about your girlfriend. Secondly, you might as well make fanfiction starring yourself with all the women you want if you're this desperate.

At first I was horrified, then I started laughing, then I said to myself "I have to screw with people using this"

Am I the only person that think the stereotypical nerdy basement dwellers will be the only people who DON'T use this service? I mean, those are the kind of people smart enough to know this would never pass on anybody's bullshit meters. God knows I'm an introverted nerdy guy, not totally antisocial, but never had a girlfriend and I would never even touch this service, simply because I'm well aware it would absolutely shatter ANY chances I have to appear normal.
I'm certain this will be used by the lowest common denominator types who probably can get a girlfriend and can't handle those periods of time between girls. Unfortunately for them, it will probably ruin their social life altogether when it gets out they are using it.
Maybe this means more single girls for us nerdy types, as women learn to gravitate away from the brainless macho types? Of course, this is all a theory and I'm well aware that not all women gravitate towards these kind of men to begin with. At least where I'm from, only a small minority don't.
