I hope this isn't gonna be one of those stupid power-ups that can only be used on certain levels to do certain things that you won't do anywhere else. I don't see it as a power-up then, just a change in game play, which doesn't sound bad but kinda boring.

I mean think about it, creating platforms? Why the fuck does he need to do that when in the previous games he could fucking fly!?

Mario and the clouds seem like they're having such a blast...

Why can't I have a blast hopping on top of happy, whimsical little clouds?

Haha I love that hat!... but the last game was boring.
WOW! You thought it was boring! Are you an action hero who fights ninja, tame dinosaurs, and bangs sexy women every night? I have heard a ton of criticism for SMG but boring isn't one of them.

Poor mario. What will they do to you next.
It could be worse. They could give him something so character breaking and so stupid that it defies words. Something like this...

I didn't play Galaxy 1, and I am not getting Galaxy 2.

They should make more Mario games with him jumping into paintings Ala Super Mario 64, that was a cooler concept
So you wouldn't play a game because the 4 second method of travel to the next world/level is different. That is being picky to the max.

Super Mario 64: Jump in a painting, 4 seconds after a level title is show, you are in the other dimension world.

Super Mario Galaxy: You get shot through space, 4 seconds of flying and the level title it shown, you are on another planet which is the world your level is on.

You must be the type of gamer that the game developers fear, the type that won't play a game because there is a slight unimportant difference in a game.

I actually liked Super Mario Galaxy better than Super Mario 64. Galaxy took platforming to a whole new level. I think it is pretty amazing that I don't have to play on a relatively flat uninteresting level, and instead I get to have a world that as multiple sections and I can start out walking in a straight line at point A and then arrive at point A again with out turning back. Yeah, they didn't do that with every level, but it made the game more fun when the levels were changed up for different types every few and sometimes every level.

Super Mario 64 was great for its time, but in the gaming world today, that style of level making is out of date. If a developer made levels like that today, I would call them unoriginal or lazy for not trying to make some new and exciting.
I didn't read your whole post, it was pretty long and I think what I am about to say will make it irrelevant.

The reason I don't play Galaxy is because it is on the wii, I don't like the motion controls, I had the N64, loved the N64, and that's why I loved Super Mario 64
Somebody may have pointed this out already, but motion controls aren't really incorporated into the game, besides one attack that requires a very minor flick of the wiimote.

Yeah, but my wii, like my PS3, is just collecting dust now, I'm not even sure where the controllers or cords are now

you see..this is precisely why i liked sonic so much more than mario. I mean..mario may have had a LOT more sucessful games in comparison...but...sonic still has his style and dignity intact. all he needs is a ring and red hot sport shoes..not a fuckn CLOUD. God damnit...

I like new things! this is new, its a fun idea, and I think people are getting too...bothered about this power up. Its a power up for a game designed for everyone aged 3+, if it makes the game its in more enjoyable, then its very good.

my 2 cents

I keep thinking of the south Park episode with the giant guinea pigs which turn into guinea bees and guinea pirates. A Mario pirate would be fantastic, plowing through Goombas with a cutlass and revolver.

Penguins, fireballs, even a helicopter and shrinking mushroom. Now a fluffy cloud suit that can spawn platforms at will. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pyschoactive shrooms are one Hell of a drug.

Nintendo is doing with Mario what Nintendo always wanted to do with Mario, but didn't have the capability to.

Think about the big colored blocks, smiling clouds, and every other facet of Super Mario Bros. 3 and try to imagine what that would look like if it were designed in 3D with Wii graphic capability.

Well, he's a mascot that's supposed to appeal to children and old people. Of course they're going to emasculate him.

I still don't like how some people in this topic are critizising how the powerup looks rather than how it plays. Some people here are just acting like idiots and ripping off Yahtzee, talking about how Peach never gets jiggy with Mario.

I can say that it's a lot more balanced than just simply letting Mario be able to fly around anywhere with the Red Star powerup in the last game. I hope this powerup sees use after the first level that you're introduced to it, though. Half of the powerups in the last game were pretty cool but were never really used that much in other levels.

at least Bayonetta´s "clothing" was her own hair... your not implying that Mario´s costume is made out of his own farts, are you?
