so, i'm sure you all heard back in the day when Cloverfield the movie was coming out/did come out, that Paramount was making a game of Cloverfield, which i had fogotten about until tonight. their websites have changed for it, so i can't find any info on it other than from 2008. does anybody have any information on it? i think it would be interesting to see, for sure. there is even a game timeline all written out for it.

NOTE: this is not me asking if you would like to see a Cloverfield game, or if you think it would be good or bad, or a good idea or not. simply if anybody has heard anything this past year on it?

i also understand that it's very possible that it was scrapped, but most people announce when they scrap a game that's been in production for even a little while. information for this game simply stopped back in 2008 and the websites for/about it vanished.

so...anything? anything at all? and if you know anything..please source?

((i did a search for this and nothing came up))

I remember there was also a fan-made game being developed but I never heard anything out of either of them. Maybe they realized that it really wasn't the best thing to make a game out of after all?

Maybe it's all just part of the viral marketing for the game. Release no information and then make people wait at least 2 years after the game?
Seriously though, I haven't heard anything. I didn't even know they were making one, although I would be interested in seeing how they pull it off. Would you be the monster? Would you be a civillian trying to escape the city? Maybe part of a military special ops trying to bring it down...

If that game did exist, I want to be Clover. Too many games focus on you being the weak delicate humans. I want to be a giant monster smashing buildings in a game other than Rampage every now and again.

i think they should do kind of a split/capmaign like AVP did...only better. one story you play as Clover..the other..Military...or just Clover =D

also, i think it was supposed to be following the movie pretty close, but..it could very well be a prequel OR sequel..part of the marketting was somethign reported falling from space into the Atlantic Ocean, and it was speculation it was a sattelite...but also, half eaten whales, destroyed ships, sonar, images of it in the ocean from various rigs.

also keep in mind that
Clover is just a baby that got lost from it's mother.

as for a sequel, the end of the credits you hear Rob say
"Help us."
but when played backwards, you hear Rob say
"It's still alive." so...Clover shall return
((hopefully))

I'm aware of all that. I loved the movie entirely, but I'm also a sucker for giant monsters. Maybe that says something about me that I shouldn't make too public.

IF that game did exist, it no doubt would be s***. >_> Seriously, how can you turn "OMG WHAT IS IT?! WHAT IS IT?!" into a video game?..Unless they made it like..pictionary or something. >_>

It would be a crappy "Heavy Rain" type game. Press, X, R1, Square, select, and put your finger in your bellybutton, to not trip while holding a video camera. While doing all that press and hold L3 to run, and tap Circle to yell "ROB, ROB, ROB!!!"

If they are going to make a game thats based on a movie that's based on C'thulu why not just make another Cthulu game?

They could always do that as a reward, like in Shadow of the Colossus.

edit: Quote fail

Is it just me, or does clover look like a giant chimera from Resistance?

OT: No, haven't really been following it either.

You could do that in Shadow of the Colossus? Damn, I need to give that game another shot sometime. I wrote it off a long time ago, have recently gotten the feeling that I haven't given it a proper chance, and now this? Where can I get a copy cheap?

it's actually not based on Cthulhu, althought it DOES seem like it. JJ made it because he wanted an american version of Godzilla, so he thought up Clover

There would be so many complaints about the camera. *Cymbal crash*

I've heard nothing on it (sorry), but it does seem like a pretty cool concept; it's the perfect setting for a survival horror game, and it's decidedly not an FPS since the main characters are running away from the monster and not trying to kill it.

Haven't heard anything, though it seems like it should be impossible to win. Everything was instant die in that movie. I loved it, though. More Lizzy Caplan is always a good thing.

I wanna be camera guy. It will be just like Mirror's edge without all the jumping and sliding. It will be the dawning of a new genre called FPR.
