all this mention of adult swim is from America cus thats what I watched when I went there on holiday but yeah it "CN" seems to be following a rather disturbing trend of live action shows like disney channels (IN)famous Hannah Monntana and nickelodeons icarly sorry if it sounds fanbouy rantish but cartoons was what i was brought up with pure adultered violence with the dodgey physics

I basically turn to that channel solely for Adult Swim now.
Exactly this, however today I just noticed they were playing a Scooby Doo Marathon. Ahh, almost reminds me of the good ole' days.

It's a shame, really. After shows as good as Justice League, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Billy and Mandy, Dexter's Lab, Teen Titans, Megas XLR, and so on and so forth, it's just sad to see Cartoon Network go the way of Nickelodeon. Toonami died a slow and agonizing death after declining into total crap, even if it was what introduced me to anime (albeit through really horrible anime like Dragonball Z). Has anyone seen Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends lately, or was that wonderful creation cancelled as well?

Personally, I foresee mediocre kid sitcoms in the future of the poor Cartoon Network. When that happens, I will have almost no reason to tune in other than Adult Swim. And hell, even their programming doesn't impress me as much as it used to.

Guess I'll just have to live with getting DVDs of the animated shows I used to watch.

This should be called "MTV Syndrome" the sufferer replaces their usual programming with stupid and sensless reality shows alienating their core auidience.

I always thought that the new shows seemed retarded as they were simply because I had grown up, but deep down I knew what our generation had was much better. Good to hear others feel the same.

Slow that down and play that Angel song by Sarah McLachlan (the ASPCA song) and it will sum up my feelings.

TO all who read this, get your head out of your ass and get to work, Americans have completely failed in competing with the other cartoon creators of the world, your only original works in the last few decades were The incredibles, toy story, up!,and Avatar! You people defend the old tv shows like batman the animated series (which i refuse to call original because of the fact that it's based off the comic, Dexter's laboratory, Ed Edd and Eddy, Johnny Bravo, and Courage the cowardly dog just because of your nostalgia! Remember what yahtzee said guys! Nostalgia corrupts our vision, nostalgia doesnt let us see how truly horrible our show/videogame was in the old days! All of these shows fell through after the international cartoon boom of the 90's led by the japanese which brought us coherent storylines, characters we could actually relate to, and a few sex jokes for the lulz, they brought us metaphorical works which were considered masterpieces in their own rights such as Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion! ITS YOUR FAULT IF YOUR SHOWS ARE GONE, all of you complain that they've killed off your favorite tv shows and characters, move on morons! The only coherent tv show cartoons in america have managed to pull out of their ass in the last few decades was Avatar and even that had to be designed in anime shonen style to compete in the market! Dont you all realize that we have no style? Japan's created their style, france has their style, canada has their style, china has their style (yes they do shows too -_-), look how far the market has gone in the last few years! Shows all around the world now do everything from scifi cartoons to cartoons about social commentary, cartoons about psychology, cartoons about storylines relating to human interactions and hell even real life stories! STill what the fuck do we have? We have mother effing spongebob and family guy doing stupid slap jokes and mocking american society today! Take a stand! As long as we continue to believe that cartoons are for children then we will always be considered laughing stocks just as Disney was considered a laughing stock for creating nothing but stupid movies which gave furries a hard on -_-, If we can not find a way to mature our shows and not just making them to keep the population stupid then how long will it be till every cartoon show in america tries to imitate ren and stimpy (the greatest adult social commentary american cartoon ever made?)
I know I probably shouldn't respond, but...

Nostalgia doesn't much matter if I've been watching old shows recently and still enjoy them, now does it?

It's not always the viewer's fault if their favorite shows are canceled. There are shows like Teen Titans that were unable to keep the license for the characters. There are others like Freakazoid that simply didn't have enough viewers, and it's hard to blame the people that did watch it for its cancellation.

The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Justice League.

Teen Titans. Don't tell me that the references to FLCL, The Beatles, and Monty Python, among others, were for kiddies.

South Park. I believe it counts as an animated, adult social commentary.

Futurama and the Simpsons.

Early anime was influenced by Disney. I also fail to see how classic Disney movies aren't good just because many of them feature anthropomorphic animals.

I think CN died when they stopped Toonami and made Ed, Edd, and Eddy go to school. Now the casket just got robbed by grave-robbers.

I've got some good memories of cartoon network. Lost the channel years ago though, and seems to have been a good thing. I'll keep it how I remember it.

*Slowly puts down flamethrower* Thank you. I don't think I could have made a better response.

Welcome to programming for the lowest common denominator. Welcome to stock-holder bottom lines with the primary motivation being the most money for the least effort. Welcome to unfettered capitalism where an MBA holds far more sway than artistic vision.

There are reasons I don't watch much T.V. Most the stuff I've loved is gone, and is replaced with fewer and fewer decent options.
