I'm looking for a game similar to Lord of the Rings: War in the North or the Dark Alliance series of Baldur's Gate games. The difference, though, is that I'd really like it if we could make our own characters for the game, rather than using the stock "Here is your elf, your human, and your dwarf. Feel free to customize them, but that's it." that the games usually go with. Are there any games in the same style of gameplay, but with full character creation?

For the PS2, the Champions of Norrath games. They aren't fully customizable, but there is a bit more variety there than the Dark Alliance games.

We're looking for something on the PC. I think my PS2 has been dead for about six years now. But thank you for the suggestion.

well, as far as I know there's Cursed Crusade, which is alright, kinda clunky though =P
and aren't the Dynasty Warriors games co-op too? I think 5 and 6 are on PC
other than that, that's a pretty tough request you have there
and also there's Gauntlet Legends, which is awesome, I used to play it with my cousin all day on my dreamcast and from time to time at the local arcade, but I don't know if it's on PC

Well, there's Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I don't know if the PC version had co-op though.

There are a number of free-to-play MMORPGs that focus on this concept. First and foremost is Vindictus, followed by Dragon Nest. For an old school sprite feel, try Dungeon Fighter Online. Rusty Hearts and (oddly enough) DC Universe Online also come to mind.

Also, keep an eye out for titles like RaiderZ, coming out later this year, which looks very promising.
