Co-op turn-based/tactics RPG?

So, me and my roommate just found and played the crap out of Divinity: Original Sin. We loved the game play, even if we found the story a bit silly and merely an excuse to go from awesome turn-based encounter to awesome turn-based encounter. However, now we have a problem. We want more. But, as we very quickly discovered, googling 'turn based co-op' does not bare many results. 80% of the results are for Divinity, which obviously doesn't help, and the other 20% for an amazing upcoming game by The Behemoth currently titled Game 4, which also doesn't help since it is not out yet. So, in a time of desperation, I came to the site of one of my favorite gaming podcasts, which frequently touts its awesome community to possibly help me and my roommate in our time of need.

So, can anyone recommend any turn-based, co-op RPGs for the PC, PS2, GameCube, Wii, or Wii U? This can be another game like Divinity, or it can be a stand-in-a-row game like NEStalgia (another game we enjoyed for a while). Also among our favorites are games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Disgaea ? any game where we get to bring in a small squad of trained troops (like the aforementioned upcoming Game 4) in grid-based combat. Very specifically, we are looking for CO-OP, not versus multiplier. We want to play together, not against each other (we do enough of that in other games).

Apparently the PSP version of Final Fantasy Tactics has a co-op multiplayer mode: Rondezvous.

I'd love to see it ported to the PC with full reign for players to set up different types of battles. I also like the idea of semi-competitive battles in which the players are on the same side, but still competing to be the one to achieve the most towards their common goal.

Neverwinter Nights is sort of Turn Based, in that the each character in the fight uses their turn in order in a real time battle. You can also pause it. I'm not sure how close that is to Divinity, since I've not gotten around to playing it yet. If you've got the patience for it I'd recommend picking it up (it's cheap on GOG) but be warned that the main story modules aren't balanced around having 2 players nearly as well as Divinity is supposed to be. There are plenty of fan made modules for it, though, many of which are built around co-op.

Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale 1&2. It's a realtime/turnbased hybrid system, with turns taking place simultaneously, but the whole thing is pausable and very tactical. Also, all the games listed are classics, with Baldur's Gate being more story-focused and Icewind Dale being more combat focused.

Well not entirely an RPG Wrath Unleashed is a great co-op game. It mixes chess type strategy with one on one battles. You can get for the PS2 and original Xbox.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I've tried to play Neverwinter Nights 2 with my roommate before, but it unfortunately didn't go very well. The pause play, while great for single player doesn't translate very well to co-op for us, because it is very frustrating for the one without the power to pause. Our computers are also in separate rooms, so shouting 'pause it' every couple of seconds gets old fast. Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale look like great games (going to buy them to play alone, actually), but not the kind of game we are looking to play.

As for the PSP version of FF Tactics, unless this mode has pass-and-play, we only have one PSP (located I'm not actually sure; buried in a box in a closet somewhere), so that won't work. And Wrath Unleashed looks fun, but more in a competitive multiplayer kind of way, not a co-op.

Any other ideas?

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 lets you play scenarios co-op, but iirc you can't fight alongside your buddies in the actual battles.

I can't comment on the rest of the series, because although I enjoyed playing 3, it is such a massive time vampire that I rarely found time to boot it up and I avoided the other games for the same reason. This is worth bearing in mind, because multiplayer is an even worse time vampire.

Dang it!, already beaten with Neverwinter Nights!, but seriously, GET IT!, especially with the Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 mods, you'll never see the light of day for weeks... literally.

I was constantly reminded of NWN while playing Divinity: Original Sin.

I think Baldur's Gate 1/2 had a similar coop mode, also the newest Dragon Age Inquisition has a (rather limited) coop mode.

And... I think that's it, I can't think of many turn based RPGs with coop. I'd also recommend you Wizardry 8 and Legend of Grimrock 1/2, both are (semi) turn based RPGs, but they don't have coop.

Co-Op stuff
Hya!!
Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but co-op games, awesome one for the GC is Tales of Symphonia. It's not turn based but it's RPG and it's awesome!

Another one which is good for co-op and is a puzzle-platformer is Trine2 which can be downloaded from the Nintendo Eshop.

Hope this helps, even a little :p

Looks like I wasn't wrong in the scarcity of turn-based co-op games... Everyone keeps suggesting the same 4-5 games, which aren't technically turn-based...

You, sir, are my new best friend. Grid-based, turn-based, and with co-op! I'm off to eBay; thanks for the help!

But, the more the merrier. If anyone can think of any more, please mention them.

If you liked Tactics Ogre, try Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, it's an SNES game you can download for Wii.

Also have to recommend Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

As for cooperative or any multi-player gameplay at all, I think your best bet would be to look for a 4X title.
