CoD 4 advice needed

I'm finally going to buy CoD 4 to play multiplayer on my PC, better late than never. the game of the year edition costs more. should I get it? or can I download the extra 4 maps for free on PC? Do I need these maps or does nobody else play them?

please advise

PS: reason I never bought it was because I was waiting for price to go down, which it pretty much never did, the GOTY edition still costs more than most new PC games!

If those 4 extra maps are Chinatown, Killhouse and the other 2 which I'm pretty sure they are, then you should be able to get those off the internet. People do still play them. I reckon you're better off just buying the regular version. Also, even if you are buying it for the multiplayer, the single player campaign is well worth playing through (unlike halo, the emphasis was placed on single player rather than multiplayer).

Hope that helps, I just find buying special editions doesn't add much ever.

Well I think that the one map (Broadcast) was worth the 800 points, but the other two are very camping prone, if you like camping, I definitely recommend getting them. I have it on Xbox so I dont know about getting it for free, but if is only ten dollars more, I probably would recommend it.

Yeah Broadcast is probably my favourite out of the bonus ones. Creek is really pretty but damn hard until you can figure out where the snipers chill and how to avoid them. Chinatown is also a bit tricky but a good challenge. And I've only played Killhouse once so I can't really say but I would get them if you are willing to pay a bit more.

Those extra maps came with an (free) patch, so no need to buy the GOTY edition.

Yeah all our servers use the new map packs, though we are debating if we should loose creek. Most other servers I visit have them running too.

As stated above they are a free download with the patch.

Just completed the singleplayer on a friends copy. damn it was short but it was good. still am going to buy it so I can play multi.
