What are some of the gameplay features, from COD or any other FPS, that you tend to take for granted?
For me, it's a couple of small things. The penetration ballistics for one (i.e. where bullets can punch through most types of cover) and the ability to pick up grenades and throw them back at enemies.

I recently bought Homefront , which I now know was a big mistake, and found that those two features weren't in the game. An enemy could be hiding behind a wooden fence and be perfectly safe, even from sustained LMG fire. And, I found out the hard way (one of the many times I died) that I couldn't return grenades to sender.

Destroying buildings in BC2. When ever I play another game I just want to blow stuff up.

The knifing is likley the one taken the most advantage of. Even Halo requires atleast 2 hits (when not against a weakened enemy)
Its probably my primary one, but Im just saying this now to hopefully ninja alot of people.

Sprinting. An underated and overlooked ability that can really change the way the game is played. You don't notice the difference until you play a game without it, like GRAW2 or Halo3/2/1/ODST.

Shotguns outside a Valve game. Call of Duty has it the worst when you shoot someone across the room with a grip aiming down the sights, but you do no damage at all as they laugh and casually knife you in the chest for an insta-kill. That knives have a priority over guns in that game can be frustrating as hell. I can shoot someone so close the barrel may as well clip through their chest and pressing the middle mouse button for some reason magically causes the bullets exiting the barrel of my gun to fall out of existence.

I'd have to agree with the bullet penetration. I've been playing Brink and it's maddening when you put a few rounds through what appears to be a fence made of metal paper and it stops every single bullet.

After playing L4D2, I tend to take the standard "melee elbow" for granted..causes the biggest problem when I switch to a game where "Mouse 2" is an alt. fire GRENADE.

Agreed.
Or the fact that powerful guns suck so horribly, such as the 40mm Shotgun on BFBC2. Thing packs a punch, but ONLY when your standing like 7 feet away. Any farther, fail hit markers. Any closer, fail hit markers. Annoying as hell.
