Do you remember that scene in call of duty: World at war, where you plaint soviet russias flag, where Nazi Germanys flag used to be?
Quite a beautiful picture I think. I just heard that it was a real picture (is that true?) and that there were circulating a story about it having shot again, because on the original photo, the soldiers arm were covered with stolen wristwatches.

Have you heard that story, and is it true?

Is it a real picture?
Damn right it is, I have a postcard of it which I got from Berlin.
I might be able to find it if I search...

"Raising a flag over the Reichstag" is most definitely real. However, as to who the people were who raised it - that question is pretty much unanswered even where I live (Moscow).

clearly it was an insane, nigh invulnerable mute badass who almost single handedly helped russia's invasion into germany.

It's definitely based on a real photo. The actual photo in question though is was a reenactment for propaganda purposes. The identity of the men responsible for the actual raising of the flag are unknown.

There is a picture, but it certainly wasn't that dramatic in real life. If I recall, the first time they did it nobody brought a camera, so that had to do it again.

And then all this gave way to Ernst Busch. Say what you will about the soviets, they had the catchiest propaganda music around.

Call of Duty 1 did it better, in my opinion. Because it was more photo-accurate.

The Russians raised their flag on the Reichstag in Berlin when they captured the building. Not near as dramatic as in the game but it is real.
They did the whole flag raising again for the camera later on.
And yes on the original photo the Russian soldier raising the flag had a set of stolen watches. They didn't redo the picture though, they just edited it. (they were quite good at that)
