COD 4 is better, but you've already played a lot of COD4 and I'd be willing to bet most of your friends are playing Blops. I suggest Black Ops.

CoD4 is a much superior game but if you have played the hell out of it already get Black ops because it is also a very good game.

I think CoD4 is better than Black Ops, though that is just based on the single-player. I'm really getting sick of these kinds of first person shooters.... ugh.

Well, Black Ops is going to have more people to play with if you're one of those online people, and from my (admittedly rather limited) experience with both games, I think that Black Ops has a more polished/balanced multiplayer.

But if I were making the decision, it'd still be neither.

Cod 4 is more balanced, I've played both alot before returning Black Ops (it was a gift)

OK so all i can say is i would go for black ops, personally i have never noticed any realy bad balancing problems, but that may not matter since why i play i'm usually the one carrying my team with the most kills, and i do just as well on both games.

as for weapons i've only ever disliked the famas and the subs, i just don't like them, and the famas is overpowered and shoots to fast for an assault rifle, but thats it as far as bad weapons.

maps as a whole are never going to be as good as cod4 but i like them just fine, still cod 4 had better sniping maps which i loved.

go for black ops with more people playing you'll have a chance to get a more varied set of skilled players instead of complete noobs and or complete elites kids that played it way to much and exploit it over the top like on the current cod4

So I don't want to start a flame war but I need to buy CoD4 or Black Ops for steam and I can only get one. On console I played CoD4 very, very extensively, but when Black Ops came out I was already moving away from console towards PC so I didn't get to play it very much. So my question to you is, what would be more fun? A game that I've already played a ton of on a new system so it may be a bit refreshing or a brand new slightly worse game that has mixed reviews?
Since you've played CoD4 on console, I'd suggest moving straight to Black Ops on PC.

No point re-treading old ground, if you want to get initiated into PC gaming Blops is as good a place as any... I think the only people playing COD4 on PC now are seriously hardcore types, you could violate you if you haven't mastered mouse aim.

Blops everyone is fairly new you should settle in well. Just remember to experiment with the controller layout and don't set the graphics settings too high or your framerate will suffer.

I also would not go online till you can at least play a bit of the campaign on Hardened mode, and make good use of the boot-camp to get used to what for you must be new controls.

I suggest you bind "Shift = toggle ADS" and "M2 (right click) = melee" it has worked well for me.

Keep an eye on Steam Store in case COD4 ever goes on sale (add it to you wish list and check daily), then pick it up if the price is right and see how it compares. There's no big rush.

Call of duty is both the best game in the series and the last genuinely good game in the series. Black ops is a combination of the worst game in the series and the game that officially ended the call of duty series. Well that's just my opinion.

If you already have CoD4, and have played it loads, then get CoD:BO. Simply for a newer experience, and it is a great game.

Bummer you can't get them both. I enjoyed them all. I hate playing online, so I can offer no opinion on that matter. However:

Black Ops: If you played World at War, you NEED to get the game. If you got the zombie maps for World At War, you REALLY need to get this game. The man they hired to voice Kennedy is so stereotypical that it's funny. The game is flooded with hidden information and a much deeper story than probably any of the other Call of Duty games. There are so many hints buried throughout that just when you think you have everything nailed down, you find something that throws it out the window.

Modern Warfare: Cheaper by now, to be sure. A fun story, though no more impossible than Modern Warfare 2's story. Captain Price. Captain Price's facial hair (You do NOT mess with a man of that mustache caliber). Gaz. "What the hell kind of name is Soap anyway?" The Nuclear explosion. Tighter aiming (it seems). Already has a sequel out. But then, you've played this game already, so you know all this.

It's really up to you. If you can, I would get both.

The only reason to buy Black Ops at this point, with all the negativity being spewed at it by everyone who's played it, is because all of your loser friends are playing it. I know all of mine are. I can't fucking stand Blops, but I'd rather play Blops with friends than CoD4 by myself.

CoD4 is pretty obviously the better game though.

Get COD4. Black OPs is terribly unbalanced. Submachine guns are the most powerful guns, knifing is inconsistant (sometimes people can lunge at you sometimes they knife the air), hit detection on knifing is terrible (people knife the air beside me and I die), game lobby almost always closes after one match, ground war is nearly nuplayable on splitscreen. etc...

Get COD 4.
Sorry man but that is just not true, knifing is stupid but is easy countered by a gun provided you can aim it, the only really good SMG's are the AK74U and the MP5, the bad hit detection is probably caused by lag, game lobbies seem to last a hell of a lot longer than other CoD's and that is a weird thing to complain about seeing as it is dependant on the players rather than the game and big objective modes being difficult on splitscreen is unavoidable.

However, CoD 4 has the M16 before it was nerfed and the stopping power, double claymore, juggernaut and martyrdom perks.

Personally I think CoD 4 used to have some of the best FPS multiplayer ever made before it was dumped by the masses and mainly loved only by the clans, elitists and occasional newb, but Black ops overall has more stuff and more playability.
I'd say get Black Ops, but CoD 4 was once upon a time the better game.
Whichever one you wanna get is your decision, but both have their faults.
