I'm tired of you thick headed gamers calling games like CoD:WaW and CoD:MW2 add ons of the original series.
They aren't
They are entirely different games.
If it's really that hard to write that extra two letters after the Games title you really shouldn't be on an internet forum, especially one like the escapist.
Now now, calm down. Not everyone has your omniscient COD knowledge.

So you know how blood looks when it's splattered all over your face? Really? Wow, someone has some life experience.

Sarcasm aside, not only is that not the final game, it's also an off-screen video. The quality can't be completely trusted, and the lighting is way off. At least wait until you play it before you complain about insignificant things.

EDIT: And I don't think that's the "I'm almost dead" effect. My guess is that someone near him got shot and there was blood spatter. It's been done in games before.

Blood on the screen is and always will be an incredibly STUPID idea. Bleed, anywhere. Do you see it through your goddamn eyes? Even if my forehead was bleeding, I't's not going to cover my iris in minute specks is it? Am I suddenly looking through a swat helmet or something? How did the blood get on the outside of the glass?

Someone already mentioned being shot in the leg so I'll mull past that one. Blood either gets in your eyes and makes you blind, or it doesn't.

>_< God I hate it when FPSs do stupid things and I hope to god there's an option to turn it off or I'll go out of my way to get the German version. Rest of the game looks bitchin..

>:E WHY ISNT IT NOVEMBER YET!?

Edit: Cod4 had it better with the injury thing. I dont know about getting shot but I've hit walls floors and fists hard enough to see red for a few seconds, I remember the first time I jumped on the game and took my first hit. The similarity was close enough to give me a flashback.

Muaahahahah, I love it. Blood on the screen is a challenge. Though I never had blood on my screen unless I was host.

I really hope they have an option to remove that blood effect. It will be really annoying in multiplayer. I liked the cod 4 blood effect more.

recently announced World of Warcraft 4...
There's a WOW 4? You mean the expansion right?

I like how you bleed all over your face from hopping out of a window. They should go back to the "eye pressure" effect, that one was much better.

It takes 0 intelligence to know that 2 and 6 aren't the same numbers.

That's strawberry jello, not blood. But I'll get used to it eventually, it only makes me dodge and avoid fire a lot more.

I hadn't heard of CoD6's existence, to be honest. The Modern Warfare 2 gore, on the other hand, hasn't bothered me all that much.
its the 6th call of duty game... so why shouldn't he call it cod6?
Cause its under its under the Modern Warefare name. So its now Call of Duty 4 part 2.

In that case, they should play a Bill Cosby clip every time it happens. :)

The 'gore effect' doesn't bother me, though I agree with the blinking comment....
The maps on the other hand.

One of the few things WAW has going for it is the map design. Seriously they looks like a dirty industrial zone half bombed to hell or farming villages that have seen one to many tanks roll through the streets. Even the pacific regions, though I disagree with the statues and ruins as if we are landing on in Asia somewhere, have good thick foliage and the appearance of being wild and untamed even with fishing villages plopped down on them.

The maps in this one... they looked like they went back to the most basic 'lego' type of design and splashed on the standard 'urban' textures. Wooopty friggen do. Part of a games enjoy-ability is being able to loose yourself in it. The best way to do that is to make it look as if you really are walking down a street in some forsaken war zone.

Don't say that word!

...They'll hear us.. *Camera zooms upwards to a horde of Twilight fangirls mere yards above us*

So far: I think it's a rather silly effect. I'm not denying that when you get shot, you don't bleed. It just seems rather odd that every time you're shot, blood shoots up square in your face and blinds you.

Or maybe I'm just digging too deep into this.

A lack of knowledge on a topic does not equate to a lack of intelligence.

The real blame really lies with the publishers, who release a string of confusingly titled products.

You never see this happen in any other entertainment medium.

Devs, wise up and stop with the confusing titles! Another example: Halo 3 ODST... I mean, come on.

That wasn't blood, he just landed on a crate of jam as he leapt out of the window.

If they was blood, what the hell happened? Did he land on a kitten or burst some humongous blood blisters on his feet? Hopefully there'll be a perk which gives you better fitting boots or thicker socks.

Also, despite being able to see your character's limbs, it's hard to escape the feeling you're just controlling a camera when you get blood splattered on the lens. I think a far better effect would be for it to be a lot more blurry, clearing up as your character frantically blinked or wiped his eyes with his hand/sleeve.
