Seconded, although I do think that MW2 will have an underground following for a while.Danny Ocean said:No way. The amount MW2 will screw PC users will see them return to L4D2 in droves. It's cheaper, will have better support, and is more fun to play with friends, in my opinion.
Oh yeah. Of course. I've payed my pre-order now, I'm still getting it. I just won't enjoy it, honest.x434343 said:Seconded, although I do think that MW2 will have an underground following for a while.Danny Ocean said:No way. My prediction as well. Valve always does a good job of keeping it's customers satisfied over the years.fix-the-spade said:Nope.Americow said:-snip-
MW2 will be an MTv style release, thousands of screaming idiots gushing about it, then having righteous fury over every little thing in it clearly intended to cause offence/discomfort.
Meanwhile the smart ones will be quietly and smugly buying many, many copies of L4D2 and having a grand old time. In six months MW2 will be forgotten except for the avid fans and screaming teens, it'll have sold millions, but so do Xfactor winners and you still forget them.
Besides, we'll probably be playing L4D2 and getting updates 2 years from now, MW2 will be largely dead and buried by then (when was the last MW update that gave new content?).
At least, that's my prediction...

I've seen so many people saying "Oh, I'm definitely boycotting this game. But I'll probably get it anyways".Old Trailmix said:Well they both have fans super pissed about how they are getting ripped off from features. Even though it is THEIR choice to buy the game that, "suckz lol" which they will anyway; then rave about how awesome it is. I swear 2/3rds of the people that are "boycotting" the game have most likely already pre-ordered it.
True, COD:MW2 will hurt L4D2's sales a little. Ex, I am not buying L4D2 until the next time there are no good games out kicks in. But they will both do well. Also Valve is not the only ones who tend to not rip off their fans. Infinity Ward doesn't as well. Valve keeps the content flowing, Infinity Ward created extremely high quality work.MetallicaRulez0 said:Oh, silly fanboys. CoD4 is still one of the most played games in the world, despite it not being updated in quite a while. It's played more than L4D, which does get updated.
I think L4D2 will be overshadowed a bit coming so close to MW2. They're largely aimed at the same demographic, so I think people will lean a bit more towards MW2 if they only purchase one game. L4D2 will still be a very popular game, but MW2 will definitely hurt it's sales.
Yep. Saying MW2 will be forgotten in 6 months (which by the way is before IW even finishes releasing DLC, just an FYI) is pretty much retarded. It'll be the most played online game for 6 months at the very least, and even after that it will be top 3 most played until IW releases their next Call of Duty game. I'd bet money on that.EvilestDeath said:Anyone who thinks that MW2 will be forgotten in 6 months clearly dose not see the power Infinity Ward has. Both will be fantastic and both will be played for years to come...prolly 2 years. I just dislike that Left 4 Dead 2 is out only a year after the first one but O well I trust Valve's choice.
