The song doesn't fit that well in my opinion, but the official version of the trailer has made me consider going out and buying MW2 so I know what happens in the storyline, because MW3 looks pretty sweet!
Don't waste your money. Seriously, Modern Warfare 1 had a pretty decent premise and that just got diluted in MW2 into a Bay'splosion filled spectacle without any coherent story tying it all together.

I'm not hating, however. There's nothing inherently wrong with 'splosion filled action games, as long as they are fun to play. And at the end of the day, Modern Warfare 2 WAS fun to play. BUT if you wait a few months you can just have that fun AND save money at the same time.

If you DO still want to play MW2, do it for the entertainment value. If you do it for the story, I promise you that you will be disappointed. I've met exactly one person who enjoyed MW2 for the story...... and I've met quite a lot of people who played MW2.....

I really liked the story of the Modern Warfare 1 and 2, i buy games for their single player and i have replayed both several times. I enjoy it and just ignore the fact that the story is over the top.

OT, this doesn't fit very well. The Captian America adverts that had this song added in where awsome, looks like someone thought they could just do the same here.

Is anyone else at all hesitant about this game? I mean, personally speaking, I'm wondering just how much work was done prior to the IW implosion. Will this game be worthwhile? Did IW learn form all the nonsense that went on with MW2's multiplayer (which I attribute almost all of Black Ops' success to by the way)?

I mean what it all boils down to is that I'm not terribly confident in the shadow of IW and the newcomer Sledgehammer games to make a product up to the standards that I wanted to see out of MW2.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if IW had already done quite a bit of work on MW3 prior to half the company leaving, I could be convinced that it is a quality product that is worth my money.

I think the bottom line is, after being burned by MW2's horrendous bugs, glitches, exploits, and COMPLETE lack of policing around the player base, I will not likely be buying MW3 on release day. Chances are I'll wait until I see what the critics have to say about it and make my decision from there.

That is unless IW and Sledgehammer Games put out something that get me really interested to play the game again.

Or, it could be AHMURIKHANS SAVE TEH DAY!!!
What do you think is going to happen?
It's definetly not going to be that..Honestly out of all the CoDs apart from the World War 2 ones has it had the concept of Americans going in to save the day, honestly this website has grown such a detestement to the US military they need to take it out on a game that is popular for being a decent shooter.

If by wait a few months you mean wait till the price drops, Activision has done a really good job at propping up the price of the game for a long time after the game came out. Check out prices right now.

MW2 Still $50 on Amazon. Probably the same price at Gamestop. Black Ops has been out 6 months and the price on that one hasnt budged. Youd be waiting a long time for that price drop.

Er, you do know that CoD games have more than just Americans in it, right?

Say, the SAS, for instance.

Dammit Call of Duty, why do your trailers always look so awesome, but the real game isn't that great?

In the first one, yes, aswell as the US Marines. Then you played as that crappy Task Force thing in the second one (Which laughably was only made up of Brits) and the US Rangers.

The next one, you'll be playing as a Russian Agent (KGB pretty much) Delta Force (because America are apparently better than everyone else) and Soap (Because using the British SAS would take the focus away from the Yanks.

Actually, my favourite thing about the Modern Warfare series is that the main heroes haven't been American at all.

As i understand it, the main guy in MW3 is a Russian Loyalist named Yuri, who is under the employ of Nikolai. Being Russian myself, i'm quite happy about this.

To the gentleman above, Task Force 141 was a multinational unit. I noticed an African and a few Australians in addition to Brits and North Americans.

I don't know if there was some other like, secret meaning to this or like, it was meant to be ironic or something but I don't get the joke. There's only Americans in the section of the game set in America...

This sums up my feelings pretty well.
And I'm happy there's a portion set in London, awh yeah.

But um...this is certainly not MW3 in a nutshell and the music just doesn't work.
Sigh.

This works way too well. (NSFW for swears)
No it doesn't.

The context of the video is the American city of New York getting blown to pieces and European capitals becoming war zones.

The song is about how great America is.

It does not work.
Do you know the song? It comes from Team America: World Police and is about US soldiers going to other countries and blowing stuff up in the name of freedom.
Because you'll only be playing American characters and won't be (secretly) combating an American enemy. Check your facts before joining the anti-MW sheep.

I mainly hope that they can give each capital their own atmosphere, not just the same big city over and over again with a few changing landmarks.

How is playing as Delta Force making America better than everyone else? Or is it the fact that American forces are included in the game?
When it comes to the American fighting force (Delta in this case) it's another of the different branches/forces of the U.S. military. The Marines were used in the first one and Rangers in the second, it makes sense for a third to be used in MW3.

As for the inclusion of American forces in the game, America has just been invaded and attacked (D.C. in the MW2, and New York ,at the very least, in MW3) and it would be mind-bogglingly stupid to have them (America) not retaliate in anyway or to keep their forces out of the game. Just imagine how Britain or Russia would react if London and Moscow, respectively, were the cities that had been invaded and decimated.

And is it confirmed that the Russian character is KGB? Or is it possible that he's Spetsnaz (the Russian equivalent to Delta Force)

CoD4 did it really well, MW2 was just terrible, everything was oohrahing american for the win. Yeah the bad guy was American but that doesn't stop most of the good guys being American too (Soap and Price the bloody nutter excepted).

WaW and Black Ops, well. Yeah.

Don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful for a multi cultural descent into chaos where we get to play all the different sides (or at least a couple) and they all have their well rounded life, I loved that the SAS in CoD4 were bloody sadistic nutters and the original marine forces were grunts cheering and whooping as they blew everything up and the whole nuke scene is still one of the most iconic moments for me, it really is.

But I get the feeling they're just gonna Mary Sue the US forces again, have them plodding the world, blowing up things and winning and surviving ridiculous scenarios.
I have more hope for MW than the Treyarch games and I seriously think the settings are going to be great, the brief looks at the English settings look great, it looks English without sights of the London Eye or Big Ben or Parliament spontaneously combusting (though I'm willing to bet something big will blow up). New York, again briefly glimpsed looks like New York, not Genericville (twinned with Unnamedistan).

So yeah, I hope for the best but I'm expecting the worst, I really hope this will be a turnaround for the CoD series but given the last few releases...

Well, you do briefly play as a CIA agent in MW2 (during No Russian), plus they were a playable faction in the multiplayer, so KGB isn't out of the question. Though Spetsnaz would be more likely, considering that they've been a playable faction in every "Modern" Call of Duty game.

And to all the anti-America hate, really? Have you guys even played a Call of Duty after 3? Because America hasn't "saved the day" in one for a long, long time. The Marines play only a supporting role in MW and World at War, the Rangers spend their entire story defending DC in MW2, and Black Ops was more "America subverts Russia and fought in Vietnam that one time". If anything, the story for MW3 is going to be "Soap and Price kill everyone behind the scenes while using Americans as a distraction". Just like MW and MW2.
