So today I've seen a copy of Shadow of the Colossus pre-played and in its cardboard sleeve with manual, for around Au$80, I'm having trouble deciding whether this is worth me getting or not... There is the added bonus of it being in the buy 2 get 1 free bin, so I could get it and Ratchet and Clank 1+2 for about $100.

Yes the main reason I'm making this thread is to ask for advice from the internet. But, to add to the conversation prospects, do you collect games? If so, what kinds? Do you go for the new special edition versions of games? Or are you like me and go in for the older (and harder to find, sometimes even mor expensive) classic games.

Personally I have a lot of GBA games that I aim to get my paws on, but thanks to their cardboard outer cases, its hard to find them complete and in good condition.

I seem to be a collector, but I wouldn't place great importance on collecting games. I keep nearly all my games and the manuals in a draw, but I don't think about it too much.

I buy the special editions for game I really care about. Which so far for the 360 (my main gaming platform currently) have been exactly:

Fallout 3
Mass Effect 2

I think in those cases they were worth it because I am one of those hopeless mutants who actually will read the art book and watch the making of DVD.

As for collecting games in general, well, I don't collect games for the sake of so much as I'm a media pack-rat who doesn't get rid of those kinds of things.

Ever.

Yeah I'm definitely a collector. I mainly hunt down PS1/2 and Dreamcast games but I also grab up every special editions and classics I can get my hands on. I recently found a sealed copy of Marvel Vs. Capcom for DC! Shadow of the Colossus is well worth the money. I've seen pre-owned copies going for $100+ so I'd grab while you can!

Although I would prefer to have everthing as well as the game like the case and stuff. I will still buy the pre-owned games that don't have cases or instructions.

It really is not that important to me, I mean the game is whats neccessary.

If I can get that game for 5-10 pounds cheaper due to the lack of a real case, then I am going to buy it without the case.
I'm actually the complete opposite. I'll only really buy secondhand if it has the manual and case, but even then it has to be a considerable saving. I can't stand going into EB Games, Gametraders or Game and seeing a second hand copy for nearly the same price as new, take around $10 or so. My attitude towards such games is why buy something that's preowned (and potentially mistreated) when the brand new pristine copies are so similar in price.

Yeah I tend to buy all my stuff new for this very reason, unless of course it is a collectible then I'll take what I can get. I hate it when the store sell preowned games for the same price regardless of condition.
