In a thread I just frequented concerning intricate words and what they mean I realised that I know way too many Collective Nouns. Mostly to do with animals for some reason.

For example:
A flange of Baboons.
A Sloth of Bears
An Army of Catipillars
A Clowder, Clutter, Pounce, Nuisance, or Glare of Cats (Domesticated)
A Destruction of Feral Cats
A Coalition of Cheetahs
A Kine of Crows
A Gaze of Raccoons
A Gaggle of Geese (on the ground)
A Skein of Geese (in flight)
A Gang of Weasels
An Ambush of Tigers

And my personal favourite...
A Cast of Crabs.

And thankyou to Meatloaf231 and Jim Doki for these gems

A Business of Ferrets
An Orgy of Students
A depression of comedians
A drunk of creative writers.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows some odd collective nouns, so to broaden my own knowledge and add some more to my vocabulary I thought I'd give you fellas all a chance to contribute

To the mods. I think this probably belongs in Off-Topic, but if it ends up playing out to much like a forum game feel free to move it

I thought it was a murder of crows.

A blessing of Unicorns
(this one is serious, i didn't make this one up)
Well what do you know... it appears there are even collective nouns for things that don't exist. (apologies for ruining the dream to all those who beleived Unicorns do exist)

Edit: Oh and I'm pretty sure that a group of ravens can be called (among other things) an Unkindness.

So this is a thread for everyone to copy collective nouns off the same lists from the internet?

A dray of squirrels
A giggle of girls
A host of angels

Well sure if you want to cheat. I just happened to know all these and thought others might have obscure ones that they knew.

Well I knew the giggle of girls one. I found the other two because I like squirrels and angels. =P

For me, this whole thread is a lesson, I hardly knew any of these. And those I did, FeNinja said them immediately. D'oh...

I don't think collective nouns are really needed anyway. I never (or rarely) use them.

Off-topic: Why do you call him FeNinja?

Edit: Nevermind, I get it...

I've managed to confuse John Galt? There should be a badge for that.

I wish I knew the collective noun for Ninja, but I don't.
Maybe a butchering? A shadow of Ninja?

A mist of Ninja perhaps?

What's nuns?
A gaggle of nuns, a murder of nuns, a flock of nuns?

-A target of Orphans (alive)
-A pile of Orphans (Dead)

I had to look this up, but it's a superfluity of nuns.

And a group of apes can be called a Shrewdness.

My first guess would be a school, they're fish so it probably applies.

Wow, they actually have something for nuns?! Is that sad or... nah, it's just sad.

A NewClassic of ninja, of course.
Or possibly an iron of ninja? A spy of ninja? An assassin of ninja?

I'm not entirely sure. Although, if all arbitrary words have collective noun precursors, I wonder what a group of sea sponges would be?
