This is my first "Collective Review", an idea that I had about thirty seconds ago. Basically, I give a little piece of my mind about the film listed above, and then whoever reads this can give theirs, and so on. We can have conflicting opinions, collective agreements, and the large masses of everyday people helping the others decide to see or not by reading over our little blurbs. Or not. This might just fail like no one's business.

Anyway, SKYINE

My thoughts:
Skyline was a little below average for me. The acting was lackluster, save for that black guy from Scrubs, and the writing was forgettable. What this was supposed to be was an action film that would showcase the Brother's Strause's special effects. The problem is they came up short on all ends. The special effects are nothing special, not supplying those "WHOA!" or "HOLY SH- DID YOU SEE THAT?!" moments that films like Avatar or, hell, even Transformers 1 supplied. The creatures looked obviously CG. And the scale of this action was never fully capture or realized until the very end, but it didn't feel like it should. (I can't really say why.)
Speaking of action, there was a lack of it. Sure, we get some aliens snatching up people here and there, a pretty good and very engaging dogfight scene, and some good jump-scares, but it takes a back seat to these bland characters that I don't really care about. From the get-go, I could tell who was going to die and who was going to either make it or die last. And I didn't really care about any of them, not even the main dude. And we spend all the movie with these guys in one apartment building, just sitting around and talking about A: what to do, or B: that they're going to die.
A few other things peeved me, but I'm too lazy to write them, so I'll just move onto my biggest annoyance from this film: The Aliens are invincible. Nothing can hurt them. If you've seen this, you know what I mean. But near the end there's this one scene where the main guy (Text Blocked out for Spoilers) and it made no sense.
So, don't see it. It's not all that great.

IN MY OPINION.

Nah, go see it with some mates, its a great film to go all SFT3000 at.

I'm still looking for some kind of explanation as to why what happened in that movie happened.

There are spoilers in this. You are warned.

Yeah... I agree with a lot of that. Acting blowed, and why they offed their best actor less then half-way through, idk. What i was looking forward to would be something akin to a better and far cooler independence day thing. I've had a running debate with friends about which is better in terms of cooler and more survivable scenarios, zombie apocalypse or alien invasion. Aliens have not had much love...

This movie was supposed to change this. Instead the acting and dialog just sucked something awful. And I was hoping for some alien v. human warfare! I got that incredibly awesome predator drone aerial attack which kicked all kinds of amazing, and I was cheering on the bomber pilot as he dodged in ridiculous rolls and gets off the final shot... and then I was over and we were back to waiting around an apartment. The aliens were super cool looking even if the ships were bogus, but in the end, this wasn't the alien invasion flick I wanted, and I left disappointed.

Honestly, we spent a good time laughing our asses off at how ridiculous some of the scenes were, and the whole time I tried to defend the movie, but damn if I'll bother watching it again. So sad...

I have one glaring issue with the aliens

Apparently the aliens only work by using human brains but that poses a problem, WHERE THE HELL DID THEY COME FROM, I doubt they have human brains on their planet so how did they out together an army that big, to do that they'd need to invade earth which is what they're doing for what I assume to be the first time, I mean what did they send more aliens back in time, is this an alternate timeline, I mean WTH movie?

The only way I can justify this is farming, the aliens seeded this world and I assume several others with humans (In most cultures' origin story, humanity begins with a man and a woman, just like Genesis). Once we reached a certain level of development, the aliens swoop in and harvest their 'crop'. The problem I have with this is that cloning technology would be far more resource efficient and considering the apparent biomechanical combine harvesters the aliens use I find it hard to believe they don't have that level of technology.
