Let the rants commence! Is Collectormania/Hoarding Good or Bad?

Ah! Now for a more juicy one!
EVE Online is a pretty shit game... That's my opinion of realizing after so much time, I played the game for it's graphics, pretty-imagery and freedom to explore the vast solar-system and galaxies ahead of me. I only found any real fun from being a Thunder-**** Pirate and stealing everything in site, while destroying everything that came within sight of my Battle Fleets. I was infamous, I found that out a week after playing. As my previous step-father was having a cigarette, he told me about this massive rant of about 20-30 people, telling their friends to watch out for me. Soon after, I found out about bounties. To which I sadly found myself disappoint, with only a small number wanted for me... I suppose from killing and stealing so much, I make everyone too bankrupt or something?
I'd go on and talk more about WOW, Minecraft and Runescape (if that still exists) but I think they all have the same linear-collecting as Fallout. Except on WOW and RS you have banks. (RS with a limited bank for free members).
Question: What are your thoughts on "Collecting/Hoarding" in games and are they good or no good? Discuss pros and cons, if you'd like... Make a Cuppa Tea and drink it while you're typing away! ... Yay..!
