I am curious about what The Escapist thinks of Collector's/Limited Editions of the games they buy? Personally I have bought only three games as a collector's edition, namely UT3, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I was hoping to buy StarCraft 2, but it's $120 at my local game store, and I don't think I can persuade my landlord to allow me to not pay rent this month. Anyway, what do you think of Collector's Editions, and how many, if any, do you own?

Dragon Age was the only collector's edition I ever bought, and I even got it on sale. I don't see much of a point in getting little collectibles that just fill up your house.

I have never bought any Collector's edition of any game, but was very attracted to Modern Warfare 2.

I think they are nice, as long as they are not too elaborate.

I'm awful for this. Every time I see 'collector's edition' or 'limited edition' on stuff, whether it's games, dvds, cds, books or whatever, I must have it in preference to the vanilla version. Sometimes even to the extent of buying the special edition even though I already own the normal release. I'm not entirely sure why, but I just always do. So I own lots of collector's edition stuff.

I love Collector's Editions. StarCraft II will be my next one.

The worst one was when I almost bought the Collector's Edition of Bioshock for the Big Daddy Figurine.

I don't own an Xbox 360.

The only collector's edition I ever bought was KISS Psycho Circus The Nightmare Child. Haven't bothered with them since, although the LBP2 Limited Edition looked pretty sweet, and it's one of the few ones that actually makes sense.

I have the collector's edition of Gears of War 2, but that's just because it was pre-owned, and somehow cheaper than the regular edition.

Much as I would love all the extra gubbins you get with collector's editions, I simply can't afford them/justify spending that much to myself.

I have several, as long as it has a worthwhile set of stuff coming with it I am more inclined to go for a collectors edition. Soundtracks and art books are usually worth it when you consider what these items typically cost on their own. As for which ones I own, off the top of my head Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Fallout 3 and I know there are a few others but I can't bring them to mind atm.

I don't tend to go for collector's editions, as the cost is usually far more than the content is personally worth to me.

I do have collector's of Bioshock 1 as it was only £5 more than the normal edition, and I wanted the Big Daddy model.

Model is currently sat in the hearth in the lounge.... lol.

Halo Wars - simply because it worked out the same to buy that, rather than the game and the map pack that came with it.

I also got the Rapture edition of Bioshock 2 because it was the same price.

Due to my collector's nature, if it's a game I really like, then I must have the CE. That is of course if the Collector's Edition isn't overly priced. I wouldn't pay any more than a 50% increase on the standard edition. (So for a £40 game, no more than £60)

I only have one CE and it was a gift. I wouldn't normally go out of my way to get the CE as I just don't value the extras for as much as they're being sold for.

I've got Collector's Editions of Final Fantasy XIII (and the Collector's Edition game guide), Assassin's Creed 2 (White Edition) and Half-Life 2 and Limited Editions of Red Dead Redemption, InFamous and Just Cause 2.

Often they are not that much more expensive and some have some decent goodies. For games I like, I feel like I owe it to the developer to pay a bit more for their hard work (strange, I know).

I get the collectors editions only for Halo and Mass Effect. I already have Legendary edition reserved for Halo: Reach...

I like the collector's editions. Just by glancing around I see Halo 3 Limited Edition and Madden 09 Collector's edition.

I have the collectors edition of heavy rain. I got it because i love the music and it had the downloadable soundtrack with the collector's edition. I think it was worth the extra money.

I got:

World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade
World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King
Age of Conan

I didn't get Fallout 3 before after a year after a release, or I would have gotten the CE of that too.

I like CE's quite a lot, if it's not complete crap in in.

I bought the collectors edition for Gears of War used for 40 bucks which wasn't too bad. I plan on reserving the collectors edition of Halo: Reach soon, because that game is going to rock.
