I agree with the view of this article, I was all for buying the special edition of Batman, and then I had a reality moment slap my mind from it's dream state, it's a chuffing piece of metal shaped into the batarang, it will have all the durability and wieldabilty like the Blade sword I have at home (balance is crap, and sounds like the blade will fly off if you go to fast through a form).
If I can buy a special limited edition box set of the Matrix, or Hell boy with statue bust included for $70 each (each DVD of the Matrix was $20 on it's own, and there is seven in the special edition case...that works out to be $120 worth of DVD's), then I should be able to get a $50 game with something thrown in for an extra $10-20, not the outrageous figure the publishers are asking for, sometimes they are generous with their free gifts, and like most of them now, they are being greedy, and at the same time trying to get potential customers attention by throwing in something of interest.
Maybe it's because I'm older (or there isn't any new star wars stuff with free goodies thrown in), but I'm tired of the free crap that doesn't work, wasn't what you expected, or turned out to be a useless piece of crap....and it's no longer a freebie thrown in with the game, it's now the other way around, free game with your purchase of utter shite and sparkly uselessness (unless you count doorstop and shelf prop/device to stuff under table leg to balance out wobble as useful?).
