I'm gonna have to go with the 'do what you enjoy' crowd. One of my friends once said, "What's the point of having all that money if I'm too busy working at a job I hate to make use of it?"

I'm was in a similar boat to you. I Wanted to do something arty, maybe even media studies, yet I love computers and have a knack for programming. So I'm doing the next best thing, merged them together, Majoring in Computer Science, specializing in Game Design, HCI and Machine Learning and minoring in media studies.

Do what you enjoy, seriously. I work currently in enterprise administration before and while I'm attending University. I earn shitloads for the amount of time I work but hate every second of it. (Just think, you spend all your time fixing computers when windows goes bunk)

Pah you guys, im doing foodscience and had to take chemeng AND org chem. Chemeng takes the cake for being the most soul wearing though. Org chem is kinda fun sometimes.
There is a single course for chem eng? Well boy howdy! I sure do feel shafted for taking this 5 year program! ;)

Well, if you're not sure what you want to do, you have a couple of years to decide once you get into college.

I used to be a Social Work major, but realized half-way through my junior year that a career in that field would emotionally drain me like nothing else and the pay that went along with it would be terrible. Plus it was required that you do 300 hours of internship a year; the year before it had been only 200.

Luckily I had done some research & alot of soul-searching and now I'm a Marketing/Commincations double major. I'm currently interning at the marketing department at the bank I work at; Nothing like killing 2 birds with one stone ;)

The point is, it may take you a while to realize what you want to do with your life, but you'll realize what it is when you feel confident when you picture yourself working in a certain profession. For me that was the biggest deciding factor, plus the prospective jobs for a marketing major are staggering and that's what excites so much about my major!

Hows about you major in something that you can get money in. All those majors are great if you want to be a teacher. Go to a trade school. Historians can't weld but I bet welders know history.
I have to agree with what was said before. I started out school as a Biological and Agricultural Engineering major...awesome job opportunities with close to 100k as an undergrad. Couldn't hack the physics so I switched to Biology with an emphasis in genetics. Once again, great possibilities coming out of school but discovered that I would hate sitting in a lab all day. Soooo....History major. Loved going to classes and learning but not really a marketable major. So now I cook for a living in a Co-op and make more money than I would teaching. Go figure. I would suggest majoring in whatever you know would keep you going to classes.
