Okay, you are admitting where the problem is. It's possible that people respect gender reassignment as it legally is, while thinking that [wo]man is reserved for the [fe]male sex. Similarly one can conclude that pregnancy is reserved for women, and at the same time recognizing that women can get gender reassignment, which leads to there being pregnant trans men. I don't think there is a conflict in this train of thought, but I'm fine if that is the disagreement.
So, by the sounds of things, transpeople should just be put into their own category. Segregated you might say

It's not a thing done on a lark. Super late abortions mean that something has done drastically wrong somewhere along the line, and *that* usually means that bureaucratic red tape is a hindrance. So no, it's not a bad law, I don't give a shit what other countries think.

Since you refused to guess, I'm going to tell you that super big, super important group of people you forgot about when demanding people use women instead of people:

Girls.

Girls. Female children. Calling them women regardless of what age they get pregnant at changes people's perception of them. A pregnant 14 year old is not a woman. She is still a child, a girl, and it's important to remember that. The US uses shit like this to continually defend grown ass men marrying children. You obviously believe language like this matters, hence being pissed off at "people", but why don't you give a shit about children being referred to as adults?
The point is a woman can get an abortion as late as she wants. Like I said, it's the same as many R bills that don't in actuality do anything that you guys get so outraged about.

So it's just a pointless semantics argument...

He's conflating hand washing, which is great and people should do it more, with alcohol sanitation, which is good in a pinch but has limitations in a lot of ways due to alcohol on skin not being terribly good vs certain, specific types of resilient viruses, so if someone forgoes hand washing in favor of hand sanitizer, they become more vulnerable to very specific viruses

But it's phoenix, who does not know nor care about nuance.
Nope, I'm not conflating anything. More hand washing doesn't do anything for covid. Using hand sanitizer gets people more infected with the stomach bug since they use that instead of washing their hands before eating. I said as much when I talked about it before, I don't get what the confusion is about.

Jesus... Does everything that's said to you go over your head? I was referring specifically to your complaint about the use of the phrase "pregnant people".

So I'm going to say it very clearly.

If you believe that trans men are men then the phrase pregnant people shouldn't bother you. The only reason for that to bother you is that you believe that only women can get pregnant meaning that you believe trans men are women.

This has nothing to do with the difference between sex and gender because we're talking about the gender descriptors man and woman. You said that there has never been a pregnant person who wasn't a woman meaning that you do not believe that any trans man who has gotten pregnant is a man. Man and woman purely refer to gender, not sex.
Nope, it's about sex.

Because those European countries don't need a law like this.

In those countries if a person is in the situation where they need a late term abortion, they'll most likely be able to get it through their healthcare system.

Domestic terrorists attacking abortion clinics is more of a part of American culture that hasn't been widely exported to Europe... Yet.
They can't get abortions after a certain time unless it's actually endangering their health (probably a few other extenuating circumstances). In Colorado, you can just get an abortion at 9 months just cuz.

Uhrm, no, law requires specificity and accuracy. You write laws to encompass all the eventualities you want to cover: it's literally the most practical way to do it.

And you're the only one "offended" about wording here; arguing that they should make the wording less practical, and less accurate, just so... what? Will you feel better knowing that the law has failed to apply properly?
No, it wasn't done for a law, it was done over the culture war. I'm not offended, it's just stupid and humorous.

Yawn. You make shit up, dude. You really do.
What did I say that was wrong?

Why are people fleeing states like California, Illinois, and New York?

Why are people fleeing states like California, Illinois, and New York?

Why are people fleeing Texas, the #2 moved away from state? Or Florida, the 5th most moved away from state? Or Illinois, #4?

Odds are, this isn't nearly as simplistic as you need it to be

While maps like that do often end up being population density maps by accident, I'd point out two things here:
1) There are a lot of people moving to the bible belt, and much fewer moving out of it, the Carolinas are not super population dense to have gotten on that list.
2) Phoenix mentioned Illinois as a blue state people are fleeing, and then you brought it up as a counterpoint, seemingly unaware of the politics of Illinois.

You want to know why people are "fleeing" California? Because it costs too fucking much to live here. Wow, that was SO hard to figure out.
This is pretty much as you'd expect.

A place is economically successful so people move there. As that place's wealth and population increases (plus land, infrastructure, resource, environmental constraints and complexity to overcome), it becomes increasingly expensive. Therefore, it becomes cheaper for businesses to start up and for people to live elsewhere, so eventually many businesses and people start moving somewhere else.

1) California is #3 and not on the Bible Belt
2) Illinois is more than Chicago. Who's moving and why? I mean, I'm guessing white flight due to all the new assholes in Montana.

There you go again, acting like your ignorant opinions are facts. It's already been explained why you're full of shit, I'm not going to repeat it. Especially considering you just ignore any evidence that contradicts you anyway.

All of a sudden this "bad law that doesn't actually do anything" looks like it might be doing a lot, huh.

1) California has more people in it than the entirety of Canada, comparing raw numbers like that is always going to have the most populous state near the top.
2) Illinois is more than Chicago, but the laws of Illinois are pretty much dictated by Chicago, so anyone leaving Illinois because of the laws and politics are ultimately fleeing the blue part of the state, regardless of where in Illinois they were.

1) which has nothing to do with the number of people moving *to* it, where it ranks #3 in the cou try behind Florida and Texas, so...
2) White conservatives fleeing areas isn't shocking, given that that's all conservatives know how to do. That's what happens when "if you don't like it leave" is the whole of your problem solving suite when you don't have power

So setting aside your insane racist nonsense, you are conceding that people are in fact fleeing states controlled by Democrats?

"White flight" is a well documented occurrence. Hell, it's why the entire state of Oregon exists.

"White flight" was in large part a consequence of redlining. When an area goes to hell, everyone wants to leave, not just the white people, but discriminatory housing practices gave white people an extreme advantage in doing so. That sort of thing is not in place is 2022 to stop a black family from moving from New York to Georgia or from California to Texas, which is what the initial premise of this tangent is: black people moving to red states. Phoenix referenced a reversal of the Great Migration, and is correct, and you and Buyetyen did that thing you do where you tag team your ignorance.

If y'all cited your sources sooner, you wouldn't have to say stupid shit like "It doesn't matter that California is #3 in people moving to it because it has as many people as canada"

What lawsuits and what book bans? Books get banned all the time in school because they are kids. Something not allowed in school isn't banning a book. One of my friends orders books for her village library and got told not to order certain mangas anymore.

Did girls ever get upset the women's building of a hospital is called Women's something something?

Florida is the most moved to state on the list and Texas is #2.

California is quickly becoming like the state of New York, which has experienced domestic out-migration and slow population growth for many years. By contrast, Texas has replaced California as the nation’s fastest-growing (in numerical increase) and most popular destination state.

Why are so many people choosing to leave California?

Various factors contribute to decisions to move.

The leading factor is cost — it is far more expensive to live in California than in other places, and multitudes have decided they are unable or unwilling to pay the premium to live in this state.

Housing, of course, tops the list of expenses.

California that is completely democratic run, no republicans blocking progressive policies, always vetoes affordable housing bills.

You want to know why people are "fleeing" California? Because it costs too fucking much to live here. Wow, that was SO hard to figure out.
Because democrats always vote against affordable housing...

There you go again, acting like your ignorant opinions are facts. It's already been explained why you're full of shit, I'm not going to repeat it. Especially considering you just ignore any evidence that contradicts you anyway.
Sure thing, you always say stuff without backing it up ever. You say you like socialism but then when asked why you list things that aren't socialism (and that I agree are good things) as why you're for socialism.

I dunno man, you're the one mad at the pointless semantic difference of Pregnant People.

Lotta hospitals in Western Montana just call the birthing departments "Birthing Centers". Probably to piss you off, specifically. In my town specifically, the big hospital has a Family Maternity Center, and the other hospital has a Women & Girls department.

Maybe you're just wrong in your base assumptions?
Florida is the most moved to state on the list and Texas is #2.
And California's #3, so...

That's a rather aggressive way to say "ok, looks like I was wrong about this."
