I was curious how many gamers on this forum are colour blind.

After reading about Modern Warfare 2's lack of colour blind support (not sure if that has changed) and DICE's new patch of BFBC2 adding further colour blind support, it got me thinking about what a problem that could have on a gamer. So no I am not colour blind myself, but it is only something I have been thinking about recently due to these events.

You know I wondered the same thing. Some games makes such a point of color helping you solve quests or shoot the impostor I imagine it would be quite a challenge to not perceive it correctly.

I have a friend who is Green/Red color blind. Suffice it to say he got a lot of betrayals back in the good old Halo 2 days.

My best friend is colorblind and he hates video games because i beat him without mercy... i never even thought it was an issue at the time.

Its good to have, broader access is never a bad thing.

I'm color blind so I do have trouble playing but I have noticed lately that BC 2 is easier to see. I'm not really sure how the support works though.

Thankfully I'm not Red/Green color blind, however I have difficulty telling green and blue apart, and dark blue, purple, and black are all the same to me.

I tend to stay away from FPS though, so until they start using a black=friendly, purple=enemies scheme on mini-maps, I'll have nothing to gripe about.

Well by the looks of it, with the new BFBC2 patch, you go into the options and it has a "colour blind" box you check and it.

What it seems to do is change some of the colours around in the maps and HUD. It doesn't seem to change any of the in game colours (from what I can see).

Yea what the hell is it and how does it work?
Colour blind doesn't always mean you see in greyscale, most common is that colours look different, I understand thats its the primary red and blue colours that are the problem.

So colour blind people can't find RedvBlue funny, because to them its GreenVGreen.

Yea I remember the good old tests we had to take for that for my drivers license. As for GreenVGreen, I hope they can tell voices apart rather well, or else it would suck.

I'm color blind, as are a lot of people here. It sucks when gaming is affected by it. In Red Dead Redemption, I can't make out the path I'm supposed to follow when I designate a waypoint, so I have to constantly check the map. In Bioshock 2, I can't make out the difference between what is what during hacking, and have to ask my girlfriend to do it for me. And yes, in some games, red and green on the map mean absolutely nothing.

I do wish, with all the color options available, that some companies would avoid these mistakes that make games much less enjoyable, and sometimes almost unplayable, to us millions of color blind gamers.
