Combat flight games

Sorry i just don't know in which category can this type of games fit.

What i'm looking for is something like lylat wars, but better. For the pc or playstation 2

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions

the only thing i can think of is "crimson skies"
i never actually played it, and i don't remember anything about it that blew me away when i saw it, but alot of people have hyped it, so... i don't know check it out, you might like it.
