Combat flight games

Sorry i just don't know in which category can this type of games fit.

What i'm looking for is something like lylat wars, but better. For the pc or playstation 2

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions

Freelancer. For zee PC. Its ageing quickly, but it certainly has some great novelty and a wonderful story.

For ps2 i would say Ace Combat Distant Thunder... I think its the 4th one.

it seems like you are looking for advice. as this is one of my fav genres in gaming, id recommend a couple. old school would be Freespace, 1 and 2 a space flight sim that is absolutely top notch, it came out a while ago but its an amazingly complicated yet simple game with a quality plot. its for pc and free right here, yay for underdogs! i would recomend as soon as you read this to go download this game for free. http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=4150

also a terrific old game is star wars: xwing fighter. probably the first great game i ever played. i dont know if it will still run on computers these days. but it was the counterpart to tie fighter and a great one at that.
