I highly doubt you'll have your internet disconnected. Just tell Comcast it wasnt you and ask them to check your history. But... be very, VERY careful that you have nothing you'd be ashamed, embarrased, afraid of them finding.
Yesh, yesh I do.Zachary Amaranth said:Do you have a wireless router? The Austin said:I live with my dad. He didn't do it.
I mean, I'm just brainstorming here. I'm not waving fingers or anything like that.
Here's the situation. Comcast doesn't make money off Jackass 3D. They don't give a rats ass who sees it in theatres and who downloads it. If they are coming to you it means someone else, either the company distributing the film or someone they hired, came to comcast to tell on you.The Austin said:So guess what?
I just got a call from Comcast claiming that they caught me red handed, in the heinous act of illegally downloading a copy of Jackass 3D from BitTorrent.
Want to know the twist ending?
I never downloaded a copy of Jackass 3D. I've never even used BitTorrent.
Sooo... What should I do? Am I going to get fined? Am I going to get my internet connection disabled? What?
Any help would be appreciated.

I would recommend only suing them if they actually do disconnect your internet service or try to fine you, because then you'd have grounds to do so.Antari said:There's a very simple solution. Ask for PROOF. If they can't provide any, sue them.
If you know for a fact you don't run any bit torrent programs, or download anything of that sort, you can sue them for harrassment. But be absolutely sure you and everyone using your internet connection is in the right.Olrod said:I would recommend only suing them if they actually do disconnect your internet service or try to fine you, because then you'd have grounds to do so.Antari said:There's a very simple solution. Advise them beforehand that you'd be seeking legal action if they intend to take action against you for something you didn't do, and they have no way of proving you did (because you didn't do it, obviously).
If you tell them you'd be taking legal action against them for taking action against you without proof, they may reconsider taking any action to begin with.
That post is pure win when you look at your title and avatar too.Sleekgiant said:Tell them someone cracked your wireless, they can never prove it was you so their case holds no water.
Also if push comes to shove ask to speak with a manager and tell them you want to cancel your service immediately and will never use their service again.
