I came across this article on the interwebs and it just caught my eye. i read it and well... just read it.

http://www.mlive.com/news/muskegon/index.ssf/2009/12/personalized_michigan_license.html

After you read the article, post a comment. i want to know what your take on this is. I want to tell that women to just get over it! Even though it is pretty clear, he does give a valid reason (i would say it's valid) to why its his license plate. That basically means that anyone can pretty much take anything and make it offensive and you have to do what they say or its a fine and maybe some jail time for you!

I'm looking for the bit where the owner explains why he chose that combination of letters and I can't find it.

EDIT: nm, found it. Bit of a non-issue if you ask me. He changed the plate anyway because I guess he's mature enough to realise the hassle of arguing the point isn't worth it. She obviously has too much time on her hands though.

Well, this still doesn't top the woman who had her vanity plate removed because it said "Luv tofu". Thanks, sexually overprotective society!

Ok maybe I'm not prejudice enough, but "DYNGR" aka "Danger" because I'm positive "DAN GER" was already taken doesn't sound like a racial slur to me.

Call me naive, but I think this ***** has a massive stick up her ass and is seeking a means to vent her hatred towards others in as many places as she can create it in her mind.

Gezz, and Washington State declined me when I asked for 8008135 as a plate for one of my trucks.

I did see 5318008 on the rode once, so I guess the guy is just waiting for the day he rolls his truck.

It's incredibly pathetic that people go out of their way to try and find racism/sexism/other discrimination in any/everything, and then play the "victim" card, when really it's a combination of ego and maliciousness. People really need to get over themselves. So many are waaaaaaay too precious these days, and it's a sad state of affairs.

Oh, the plate in question looks like a cut-down form of someone's surname to me. I'm still trying to find the racist slur. Anyone care to point it out?

I'm afraid I don't get it, but then I do live in Australia. If it is that serious and obvious, please don't flame me.

Personally I think that there is a good chance that the slur was accidental, but if it's not than I guess it's fair enough that it was pulled. They should have just reviewed the license plate to see if there was any deliberate malice in it.

I also don't understand why the woman "had to" explain what the perceived insult meant to her son.
The sooner we forget these insults all together, the better the rift that they create between people will be healed.

Perhaps idealistically I imagine a day when people will hear old-fashioned swear words and say things like "What?" and "Are you making up words?", which would completely remove any chance of careless words starting a fight.

This is just a blatant case of looking for something to complain about. I mean how could you possibly make DYNGR (Which I imagine is supposed to be like dinger) be Die ****** (Nobody report me for saying that).

Fuck that lady, and her bullshit. I love the part where she "had" to explain it to her 11 year old son. oh yes, little timmy, the world hates you because you are black.

actually, the world hates you because your mother is a colossal fucktard and you most likely will be too. I hate people like this, always looking for offense. I am a Jew and my friends rip on me for it all the time, and I take shit like this completely in stride because I dont take myself so fucking seriously.

so again, fuck that *****. I hope she dies. horribly.

ANAGRAMS DO NOT MAKE FOR RACIAL SLURS! Fucking people looking for reasons to be upset. That fucking said DANGER SPELLED WITH A GOD FUCKING DAMNED Y YOU BLOODY TWAT! : ( This story made me angry. She'd never read this post yet I'm typing as if she would. She's an idiot.
I agree entirely. People just want a reason to be pissy. Hell. I live in an apartment where I play my music at around 3pm at a volume that doesn't rattle the walls and shouldn't seem offensive at all. Yet the upstairs TWAT, I mean...Neighbor...seems to enjoy tattling on me for it. How do I know? Because my other neighbors have better things to do at 3pm then tread down to the office and file a piece of paper that says I'm too fucking loud. Yet the guy that blares techno to all hours in the morning is left alone. The ***** has something against me...I just haven't figured out what.

Ummm... I'm not sure about Michigan, but here in Nevada, they check those before you even get the chance to pay for the plate. Unless you have a REALLY good story explaining what it means, you couldn't have anything that vulgar on your plate - although I have seen someone get away with "PEN15". I remember a particular story about a guy who went through hell just go have "GETNSUM" on his plate.

On another note, I read "DYNGR" as "Danger" (pronounced like an asshole: "DAYN-JAR") before "Die ******", so I suppose the racism is in the viewer, not the owner.

Can someone tell me just what she saw in this?

DYNGR

I mean you can't even rearrange it into some take off "nygdr" unless you spell it with a D, which means you probably spell "offensive" with a 6 and shouldn't be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
whats not to get... if you can't see what i means try reading it out loud... the woman though the number plate was saying "Die ******"... its not exactly hard to figure out

Took me a second to pick up the slur when looking at the plate, but it also could have been DINGER, as in the dildo riding the bike had a habit of smacking into stuff while riding, probably because he might be a lousy rider. Anywho, what's this dumbass broad's deal looking for trouble on license plates in a wal-mart parking lot with her kid? Obviously she's an idiot, which might explain why there was no mention of a husband and she was walking with her kid in a wal-mart parking lot... might be looking for a new baby daddy or someone to give her enough money for a DNA test because Maury Povich thought she was too stupid for his show. Suck that, random racist jizzmopper!

Well on one hand, I don't see how much of a problem it is. But on the other hand I can't really connect too much with that "racial intolerance" stuff so I guess she is well within her rights to complain randomly.
