I wish I were making up the second one in particular, but no, they're both real.

I remember the first one specifically. I guess most of the hipsters jumped ship awhile ago ;P

I jest, but seriously who is Daystar, and why do a good number of these slogan ideas involve him/her/it?

But... but... you've been here for years, I thought you were in all the practical jokes. Daystar Clarion is a made up persona that people throw around here, just like the basement and "Blame Kross!". It's sort of like the unofficial mascot of the Escapist a wolf that is supposed to be like really cool and such.

I thought it was quite an old in-joke - it's reached mythical levels already - Nasrin even conducted an "interview" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119811-Community-Spotlight-Daystar-Clarion] with Daystar Clarion just for laughs - the joke was that she tried to present Daystar as an actual person who visited the forums. I think Kross was the one who created the fake account.
