Huh I had no idea Comedian was a male word or that there was a female word (Comediennes) for the same job.

Eddie Izzard and Louis CK are my favorite YouTube searches right now. Intelligent, funny guys.

In my experience, comediennes tend to be more restricted in their humour, playing up to stereotypes rather than making jokes. If she's a mother, she'll almost always make the same jokes about being a crap mother etc

Ben Bailey (This man is a genius. He's fairly dull in the Cash Cab but on stage he's brilliant.)

Of course Carlin will always be an old favorite of mine till the end of time.

Ron White isn't as bad today as the other BCCT guys, and was easily the strongest of them out of the gate, but his stuff has still taken a turn for the worse in my opinion. Old stuff is great though. Excellent timing.

Mitch Hedburg! He's been a favorite of mine, just passing George Carlin as my favorite.

Father Time said:
All in favor of ignoring any use of the word comedienne say "Aye".
Aye.

EDIT: Here's a best of that's a little more rapid-fire, if you so prefer.

Dara O'Briain is always good for a chuckle.
Louis CK if you don't mind his extremely cynical, sarcastic style.
Jimmy Carr can be pretty good too, sometimes a bit too one-liner-y (you know what I mean).

Have been watching a lot of Al Murray recently

I used to be a fan of George Carlin, until too many people started using his material as an excuse to be generally unhappy and miserable about the world.

I have a few favourites and I was lucky to see a couple of them earlier this year. Think I might include a clip with each to help get an idea of what they're like.

He is usually part of a duo that does a lot of songs but he did a tour by himself this year and I don't think I've ever laughed that hard before.

Demetri is one of those comedians that says lots of short jokes but so many are funny and I really loved his show Important Things with Demetri Martin.

He is a very different person and a bit weird but some of his stuff is great.

While I haven't seen any of his stand up stuff I find pretty much all of his videos hilarious.

Sorry about all the videos haha

In order of my preference:

Just a few. Louis CK is heavily influenced by Carlin (and I do mean HEAVILY influenced), so if you like Carlin, you'll probably like him too.

My favourite at the moment is Staurt Lee... And he has some fantastic bits! The problem is, small clips don't cut it, as you have to watch an entire show to get all the subtleties!

I can't view vids at work, so I can't see what this vid is, but from the title I think it is the bit of his routine I wanted! If he mentions Devina McCall's (sp?) comment then it is the right clip.

Oh! This one is good too!
