[HEADING=1]Comedy appreciation thread[/HEADING]

The sketch below is from a show that Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry used to do before they went on to achieve great fame abroad. Both were members of the Cambridge Footlights, which helped give the world Douglas Adams, Armstrong and Miller, the Pythons and others who went on to great success in the arts.

Escapists, I invite you to join me in celebrating the best and brightest examples of comedy ever devised. Share your sketches, scenes and amusing passages that you feel are worthy of accolades!

I like this one in particular because it also showcases Hugh Laurie's pretty impressive musical skill. He did a couple of blues albums.

Starting of with Hugh and Stephen... great way to insure this thread goes no where but down.

I suppose I'll have to submit to submit the great Rowan Atkinson in reply. He's done a lot of great stuff, and it's hard to choose between it all, so I'll just go to the last thing I watched of his, a glorious re-telling of the life of Jesus and his assistant Sharon.

I'm trying and failing to find a clip from Bill Bailey's Part Troll where he goes through the list of things to do before you die. There is a short clip on youtube of his suggestion for number 67 on the list - Lunge wildly at the pope, and the whole of Part Troll appears to be on there too if you have an hour and a half spare, that's recommended, but somehow nobody's edited just the bit I wanted, so here's Bill Bailey's we are not amused clip instead -

My favourite comedian for a few years now is Stewart Lee. I've always like metahumour and trolling and he pisses off the kinds of people I can't stand (the edgy "political correctness has gone mad" crowd).

I was on a Flight of the Conchords kick for close to about five years. Loved the show, the music and even saw them live once!

They were funny and damn clever, skewering both popular music and society, all in the framework of a hysterical 26 minute show.

Aaaaawwwww yeaaaaaaahhhh...
