comic book must reads

i've been considering it for awhile but now i've decided to get into comics. i like to read alot and comics seem to have complex stories even though it might not look it from the surface. so, as a complete newcomer to the medium: what are some "must reads" to get me started and help me feel out what i might like. thanks in advance.

Well, I don't know if it'd be good to start with it, but "Kraven's Last Hunt" is my favorite Spider-Man storyline.

joker by Brian Azzarello is really good so is batman long Halloween, kickass, the dark knight returns and i herd deadpool has really good stuff
