A 'favourites' list! I love making and answering these threads and I've not seen one on comic books for a long while, so what is your favourite comic book...
Character
Series
Story arc
DC hero
Marvel hero
Publisher
Writer
Artist

Mine:
Character - Spider Jerusalem (from Transmetropolitan)
Series - Y: The Last Man
Story arc - Batman: The Long Halloween
DC hero - Batman
Marvel hero - The Incredible Hulk
Publisher - DC
Writer - Geoff Johns/Jeph Loeb/Warren Ellis (Cannot reduce that list any more)
Artist - Francis Manapul

Note: By series, I mean it could a Vertigo series like The Invisibles or it could be Spider-Man or Superman (not the hero but their whole series from start to finish/current day).
Note: By story arc I mean a story that ran for a few issues, canon or non-canon, like Batman: Knightfall or Identity Crisis.

I'm going to mostly restrain myself to Marvel/DC stuff here, or else it'd all be Neil Gaiman related ._.

Character - Spider-man
Series - Sand-Man
Story arc - I can't think of it so I'm just going to rashly say Spider-Island
DC hero - The Flash/Martian Manhunter
Marvel hero - Spider-man
Publisher - Marvel
Writer - Marv Wolffman/Paul Cornell/NO ONE ELSE
Artist - George Lopez and, gonna have to agree with the OP here - Francis Manapul. Dude defines how I like my Superhero Comics drawn.

Character - Iron Man probably, this one is hard to say
Series - Probably the Avengers considering I have been reading them since before Bendis took a shit on them
Story arc - A three-way tie between Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation... only events worth reading in Marvel as far as I am concerned
DC hero - Batman
Marvel hero - Iron Man
Publisher - Marvel, though I have read some Dark Horse too
Writer - Easy, Stan "The Man" Lee
Artist - Tie between Kirby and Perez

Bendis? Really? I love Wolfman primarily for Crisis On Infinite Earths and Cornell is doing a monumentally impressive job on Demon Knights at the moment but Bendis? In my opinion, that guy has been slowly ruining Marvel for the past eight years. His Dark Avengers was a great run, though, I'll admit that.

I'm basing that off Ultimate Spider-man and Secret Invasion, TBH. But he has done some shit things lately. Hmm. Okay, he's not really in my top three now that I think about it. I totally could reduce that list. That was such a lie.

Character: A toss-up between Spider Jerusalem and Reverend Jesse Custer. Both characters had a substantial impact on my life as a teenager, but if pressed I'd probably have to give it up to Spider.
Series: Another toss-up between Hellblzer, The Uncanny X-Men, and Transmetropolitan
Story arc: Iron Man Extremis, so well written and beautifully illustrated.
DC hero: Cameron Chase - Kind of an obscure character but the 10-issue series was awesome.
Marvel hero: Ugh, toss-up between Spider-Man and Wolverine. I've always felt a connection between myself and Spider-Man via having the same name, but Wolverine and I have the same nationality and when I was little and cut myself for the first time and then saw it heal my sister told me it was because we were related to Wolverine and that made me love the character all the more...
Publisher: DC, largely for the Vertigo imprint
Writer(s): Warren Ellis and Chris Claremont
Artist(s): Darick Robertson, Ben Templesmith, Adi Granov

This was fun.

My favorites have always been:

The Killing Joke
Kingdom Come
Nightfall

Not a big comic book fan, though. I just really enjoyed these works.

Character - The Maxx from the first story line of the Maxx.
Series - I tend to read one shots a lot, but for long running series Hellblazer.
Story arc - Dan Abnett's Marvel Cosmic Stuff, Conquest through to Thanos Imperative. And generally I am a sucker for all of Marvel Cosmic because I just find it fun. I love how they draw the back grounds.
DC hero - John Constantine if I can use Veritgo, Bruce Timm's Batman if not.
Marvel hero - Hulk
Publisher - A toss up between Oni, IDW, and Boom, their are where most of my current comic money goes to.
Writer - Toss up between Greg Rucka, Sam Keith and Dan Abnett
Artist - Sam Keith, tripy stuff
