First of all, sorry for the Buffy speak in the title.
Thanks to Movie Bob I've become quite interested in comics.

However, due to not being American, I can only buy what I think are bundles..
Story arcs...

I don't know what they are called, here is a picture and a description of one.

How do ten heroes end up buried alive beneath 150 billion tons of rock? And is the Hulk mad enough to do anything about it? What were the events that led up to this catastrophe? What are the heroes thinking? And with the weight of an entire mountain range above them, how do they go about their desperate fight for survival? This title collects Spider-Man & The Secret Wars numbered 1-4 and Secret Wars numbered 1 .

Though, I have no idea what is good, and what is not.
I'm open for suggestions of some Story arcs...I guess.

Marvel is my favourite, but that's just because I only know Batman of DC and not much else.

Oh that is the Secret Wars arc. I not sure the full details of that arc but all I know is that this god like character called The Beyonder gather all the superheroes and supervillains into this planet he created and simple have them fight each other to see which is greater Good or Evil (or something like that).
This was like the first big crossover comics as it has character like Captain America interacting with other superheroes like the Fantastic 4 and the X-men which normally they don't encounter each other this big. Not only that but this is also where Spiderman first picked out the symbiote aka Vemon.

The only Marvel arcs I know of are (in order of event), Avengers Disassemble, House of M, Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, Civil War (which is good), Secret Invasion, Dark Reign and Seige.

EDIT-Here's a video review of the 1st issue to get a better idea of the arc (I think it's a good arc to start with eventhough I haven't read it myself).
