I know I've been starting a lot of comic threads recently trying to get a perspective on a hobby of which I've wanted to be a part for so long, but just recently got the chance. I'm looking at the DC reboot and the Marvel Universe comics as an opportunity to get into comics without having to flounder due to my lack of knowledge of the backstory. As I was looking at the DC and Marvel websites to try to figure out what to get next, however, I became incredibly confused. On the DC site, I counted at least four different Batmans that were getting #1's in September, and three different Green Lantern variations, and I don't have the slightest clue what the difference is. On Marvel's side, everything seems to have a tie-in to Fear Itself, which I assume will be difficult to understand since I haven't been able to read a comic before now. I can't tell from the site which comics I can pick up and enter without being completely lost, and their recommendations all point to series that have been going on for a long time.
If someone could help clarify the DC variations so that I could figure out in which one I would be most interested and help me find a jumping off point for Marvel comics, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help
