I dunno why, but i felt th'need to share this with somebody since i can't talk about it yet...

My Girlfriend and i (who've been datin' for a lil' over 2 and a half years) recently started talkin' about what costumes we wanted to put together for Halloween (for a couple reasons...1) we like havin' good costumes (it's our fave night of th'year) and doin' that takes either time (for her...she makes hers), or money (for me..i'm lazy)...this way we have plenty of time to get 'em together.

Since it's my year to pick (we take turns), i told her i wanted to do Green Arrow (the Smallville version..easier to get ahold of) and she's doin' Black Canary (whichever version she wants...i think she's doin' comic though)...after diggin' through our comic collection to reaquaint her with Ollie and Dinah, she seemed cool with it.

What she doesn't know is why those two sprung to mind for me...y'see, this year i'm plannin' on poppin' th'question to my own "Pretty Bird" and for some reason (th'past couple months) thought it'd be cute for that moment to happen in costume...(we're both comic nerds, it just seemed to fit)..

so like i said i just wanted to share that with you guys...all i'm lookin' for response wise (if anybody wants t'give one)is:

1) Whaddya think? Will she like it? Do i have a shot in hell of her sayin' "yes"?
2) How'm I doin' on the creativity-meter? I'll only (presumably) get one shot at doin' this my entire life (provided i get th'answer i want), i wanna make sure that this one ranks on originality...
3) Anybody else got any creative/embarassing/worth tellin' Proposal-related stories?

And (although it will obviously take a while) i will be updatin' once i actally get around t'askin'...

You sound like a good couple, she'll probably say yes, if not you've a good story. But you need the blonde Van Dyke beard to seal the deal.

You've been in a relationship with her for over 2 years, you dress up together and she likes comics, and you still have doubts of her answer?
Go for it.
It's good that you're doing it your own way.

I definately got th'beard...i just can't get it to do that curve at th'bottom...plus i'm doin' th'Smallville version so i may just shave...o'course, she's sayin' i should do a combo of th'two:

Smallville suit, domino mask (instead of th'shades), keep my beard (but dye it blonde), and use a recurve bow instead of the Compound...

I'm even thinkin' about tryin' to make a couple homemade arrows with a LED light at th'end to make it look like those "taser arrows" Ollie uses on Smallville...

Smallville-Green Arrow and Comic-Black canary doeesnt make any sense! HATEBLAHROFL! Just joking, it actually sounds like a good idea and you should go for it. I'm guessing 'Part 2' of this thread will be about her reaction?

Y'know...she actually said somethin' similar..said she'd like it if i went for the comic look because she just "{doesn't} like that smallville suit"...but i told her tryin' to get a good version of his comic duds would be a lil' too difficult to find...

Plus i was thinkin' that on GA's debut on Smallville, he was wearin' a ring around his neck (it was some kinda keepsake from his mom or something) which would give me a reason to wear her engagement ring in plain sight, but not tell her right away what it's for (yes, i spend way too much attention to detail when it comes to costumes)...

...and yes, Pt 2 will be her answer (hence why it'll take a while)...

Yes yes, sounds fine. Good luck and all.

But in all honesty, do you talk the same way you type? In that southern drawl-ish manner? I'm not poking fun, promise, but I really did read your opening paragraph in my mind like John Wayne.

Um..yes..i do talk that way actually. That's kinda th'reason i type that way (if you read one of th'other forums i've started, a LOT of people tend t'point this out)...i found it funnier when people said they hear "Jayne Cobb" from Firefly...(i'm also fond of th'word "Gorram", i just didn't have a reason t'use it for this post...)

Just an opinion, But I think you should let her dress as Dinah this time.... :D

Not a bad choice at all, though. Much better than some of the things I've thought of. Being a tall, thin Pole by heritage, I wanted to paint myself bronze, and have my GF go as a stripper, and I'd be her "pole."

Sounds like a great idea. Her answer will depend mostly on the kind of couple yey are (and you sound solid) and i've always believed proposals should be made with thoughts towards having a good story down the line.
