Comic Relief

Are any of you doing anything funny or wacky for Comic Relief? Or are you planning to/have you donated yet? This won't really apply to anyone outside the UK, or anyone who can't get the BBC for whatever reason, but I want to hear about your Comic Relief stories and fundraisers! As for me, my Halls of Residence have set up a fundraiser with the student Halls Committee, where the member who raises the least gets gunged outside the Student Union today We've raised plenty, but I think the gunging is the best part... So, what are the UK Escapists doing to support Comic Relief this year?

P.S. I forgot to buy a Red Nose, for once, so I'll make up for it by painting my nose red instead xD

Sadly I haven't done anything. I still don't quite understand comic relief, they seem to spend a lot of money on it, I wonder how much all those costs add up to.

I'll no doubt watch some of it, but I tend to give to charities when I feel like it, being guilt tripped into it turns me away if anything.

However, while Comic Relief can have a rep for just not being very funny, there's often true gems hidden away inside it.

One I recently saw was Alan Partridge interviewing the Milky Bar Kid, with Simon Pegg as the Milky Bar kid.

It's maybe made even better by the audience not getting it, and just the waves of discomfort coming from them.

If you don't know Alan Partridge, he's a faded chat show host who has the natural ability to say the wrong thing at every chance. The Milky Bar kid was a small blonde child who advertised white chocolate in the 70s and 80s.

I honestly didn't realise it WAS comic relief until i saw a bunch of people walking around my college in their PJ's...

Wish i'd known now i would'a done something funny.
I wouldn't have made any money, but any excuse to make an arse out of myself.

As for the non UK Escapists, in short, Red Nose Day is the Comic Relief Charity's night of TV, like a 'telethon' but all based around comedy, to raise money for the UK and the third world.

I'd have chipped in some cash for a few minutes of new Chris Morris material, tho I don't think he's the type to 'join in' on something like this. Also, more than 10 seconds of Chris Morris would have the masses switching off and writing a badly spelled scrawl to the complaints division

I've seen that. The audience actually believed it . I've also seen the Two Pints, Grownups and Coming of Age crossover and the video for this years Comic Relief song.

It's basically like that but focuses on comedy, and doesn't involve Terry Wogan

I bought 4 red noses and even dyed my hair bright red (looked like Ronald McDonald). Wasn't really expecting much in the way of donations (didnt get any!) and many people just looked at me like some wierdo. Seriously people have lost their sense of humour which is horrible as i have always loved this day.
