My friends and I were having an arguement over superheroes while playing Marvel: UA2 earlier tonight. Eventually it boiled down to "Well, who are your favorite Marvel and DC superheroes?" We all gave our answers, and then came the inevitable why? It was very interesting. Well, other than the one friend, who said "Because they're BAMFs, thats why."

So Escapist, who is your favvorite Marvel Superhero? Your favorite DC superhero? And why?

For me, its Ironman and Batman. For the same reason: they're superheroes - without super powers. They're is nothing special about either of them, other than the fact that they're very smart. Batman has simply trained himself to the peak of physical and mental conditioning and uses an array of gadets to help. Tony Stark built himself a power armor suit qith every gadet known to man, and fights with nothing but that and his wits. And they still go toe-to-toe with the super-powered superheroes and win. +1 for the normal guys.

That, and Ironman is basically House with a suit of power armor.........

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A VS. TOPIC. THIS IS NOT WHY ONE HERO IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER.

THIS IS WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MARVEL AND DC HERO, WHY, AND NOTHING MORE.

Also, yes, I did "Search Bar" it. And nothing like this game up, so don't even say it.

Deadpool, because he doesn't just break the fourth wall. He blasts it to pieces and wields the individual bricks as weapons.

Closely followed by Thor. Seriously, Norse god. How could that not be cool?

Deadpool. Dude is badass, and a smartass. gotta love it.
I agree, dude will literally die badmouthing you. Don't get on his bad side, he will give you nightmares.

But gotta go for Spidey, he's the little guy, always gets picked on, never gets a break.

DC? Hmm. Maybe Robin, BatGirl, the Titans. They're the next generation, they have a legacy to live up to.

I also am quite partial to iron man, always have been because he is one of the heroes with faults (I guess more relate-able) as for DC, I didn't really get into any DC comics, and so have no opinion other than it NOT being superman or batman.

You forgot that they're also both rich as hell, so they can afford to fund their excursions into crimefighting.

I unfortunately have no real favorites from either the DC or Marvel camps, because I really don't read all that many comics.

So, I will instead submit that favorite hero is Hellboy. Whereas Batman and Ironman are normal folks making attempts at superhumanity, Hellboy is essentially the exact opposite of this. He's a being of great supernatural importance, really just trying to have a somewhat normal life. And of course, he's sometimes fairly funny.

Should this answer not satisfy you or fit within your parameters in the way that you desire, feel free to lynch me.

Deadpool, for the reasons already listed by others. You seriously can't get much more of an awesome character than him. Also, he plays Street Fighter.

I would like to see Batman vs the Green Goblin!
Both are rich, geniuses and into gadgets.
it would be a battle of "sane rich" vs "crazy rich".
Depending on how you look at it, Batman isn't much more sane than some of the people he carts off to Arkham.

DC:The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Rorshach (Haven't read the Watchmen comics, sorry 'Graphic novels', but the movie is in my top 5 of all time favorite movies).

Marvel:Ironman.

Marvel:Don't really like marvel that much but if I had to pick one I'd say Spiderman because he can be a smartass.
Ironman is Marvel.

Fixed! My mistake, I'm not that into comics so I get mixed up sometimes.

hmmm not sure who my favorite mMrvel one would be, it's a toss up between Spider-man, Wolverine and Nightcrawler

for the DC universe it's a tie between the Green Lantern/Hal Jordan and Batman

I have multiple favorites...

Delirium: She's fun to watch.

Elijah Snow: He's Badass!!!

Deadpool: Obvious reasons

Cable: Just as Obvious

The Captain (Nextwave): We need more drunken superheroes.

Elisa Bloodstone: Honestly to sneak a FLCL reference is clever plus her dialogue is awesome.

DC: I'll go with Wonder Woman. What's not to love about an immortal Greek dominatrix whose method of attack is beating the stuffing out of you, tying you up, and then beating you some more?

Marvel: Steve Rogers the original Captain America. Call me an idealist, but I liked what Cap represents: a person committed to the highest ideals of his nation, even to the point of battling friend, foe, and his own government to preserve it. In effect, he stands for the best in all mankind. That and he kicked ASS. Alot of it. I don't think there is anything that Steve DIDN'T beat that crap out of during his career. Come on, when Wolverine and The Punisher respect you, you know you've achieved heightened levels of badassery.
He was a true patriot, a real American, and a certifiable ass kicker.
Then Marvel killed him just so Bucky can run around playing dress-up.

Marvel: Spiderman. He is more or less the all-rounder of the Marvel Universe, seeming to embody all the perks and problems of his fellow heroes without getting too focussed on a singular aspect.

DC: Batman, definately. I'll admit that the Batman mythos is probably the ONLY mythos I like in the mainstream DC universe, but in the grand scale of things, he tops even Marvel. As for reasons, they've already been stated in the first post.

Dr. Strange because while other superheroes save cities hes out there saving multiple realities at once. (The comics are also so over the top that they are hilariously cheesy)
Cable, because he's just a time-traveling mecha-badass like that.
And of course Deadpool, he's funny in a funny way, not the Dr. Strange way.

But what I REALLY love are the 90's advertisements found in those comments that call you "dude" and "bro".

Deadpool for being brilliantly funny.
Batman for being brilliantly awesome.
The Question for being brilliantly nuts.
Flash. Because unlike spiderman, he feels like a REAL average joe with super powers XD
