Okay story time; movie bob has another show called game overthinker on a web site I can't remember (sorry) anyway this week he had a video about how gamers need to grow up and that the only medium less mature/adult then games was comic books. to me I say: what a fucking load. I love games, don't get me wrong they're great I wanta work in games but they're still just an entertainment medium not an art form, they haven't gotten there yet they're still in their relative infancy. I mean where's gaming's watchmen, its V for Vendetta, killing joke, sandman, death in the family, civil war, batman inc., new krypton, red son, kingdom come, fables, hell where is gaming's Mouse? I'm not saying games are less worthy or anything and I believe we'll get there eventually, who knows maybe in this coming decade but not now. Anyway tell me what you fellow escapists think

Screwattack.com mate.

The problem is that when someone tries to make a game that really says something like Six days in Fallujah, it gets shut down point blank and if it gets made we are unlikely to but it. What Bob was getting at is that sense games are protected like all other art now we should be prepared to be criticized like everything else.

And as for your Examples to the titles you listed
-Ico
-Deus Ex
-Bioshock
-Shadow of the Collouses

Not alot but we are hoping that changes.

There are amazing games that are art in my opinion, Shadow of the Colossus and Ico for example, then there's Duke Nukum Forever. There's comics like Sandman or Pride of Baghdad and countless other wonderful titles, then there's Rob Liefield's work.

Games and Comics are like films and tv, they have a vastum spectrum between phenomenal and trash. To judge the medium on a few things alone is stupid.

[H]ell where is gaming's Mouse?
You mean the holocaust book? Maus was the spelling.

No comment on the maturity level of games. I prefer strategy and emergent gameplay, I do agree with Moviebob that with a few (already listed) exceptions, game writers tend to produce some of the least nuanced, most infantile characters ever. Yahtzee tore Marcus Fenix a new one a week ago for being an immature, shallow ponse. Then Bioware had Shepard decide to pile all his specialists on a shuttle and leave the Normandy completely defenseless in ME2...

Yeah, gaming's writers seem to be the bottom of the barrel when compared to other medium.
