So I've been skeptic about the new C&C ever since I heard it was going to be F2P, and after seeing some gameplay footage of it, I think I'm even less excited about it.
It seems like only the vanilla factions will be available from the get go, and you'll have to unlock the generals via exp, or just buy them, similar to how League of Legends introduces champions. The in-game shop is also reportedly going to have "convenience items" for players to buy (from the Gamescom presentation).
The game also seems to be mimicking Starcraft to a certain degree. Power is no longer needed apparently, and now EU's and APA's(China's) Power Plants are used to expand building area, similar to how Plyons work in SC. This probably also means that GLA retains the ability to build anywhere they want. There's also a new resource added, Oil, which seems to function just like vespene gas does in SC as well.
Another thing I noticed was that there's no menu for selecting General Powers, and it seems like you simply unlock them just as you "level up". Each general also seems to have their own unique powers still, but there doesn't seem to be any room for customizing and choosing which power to unlock (unless they add extra power unlocks to the store).
And this isn't even mentioning how the style of the game looks nothing like the original generals. It looks so cartoony that they look like something out of Red Alert 3. Overall, these observations make me even less enthusiastic about EA's latest way to "reinvigorate" C&C.
But that's just me. What do you guys think about this game so far?
