One question that desperately needs to be answered, WHERE THE HELL IS GHOST?! Him and Jon were nigh inseperable during his time at the wall, and he is nowhere to be seen D:
You do see Ghost every so briefly in the second episode when Jon and Tyrion have stopped on their way to the Wall. There's a big mass of white in one of the wide shot.Spacewolf said:Also strange we havent seen Jons direworlf at all, in fact most of them seem to be showing up less than they where written to.
There is definitely a fine line between being faithful and being needlessly beholden to the books. Syrio, for what you said, is a great example. He doesn't need to look exactly like what's described in the books, because his character is defined by his actions less than his appearance. He's there to teach Arya "fencing" and hopefully we get to see his awesome moment of taking down five Lannister guards with his wooden sword.ThaBenMan said:Nothing about Syrio Forel??? He didn't look like the way he was described in the book, or how I imagined him, but I thought he was great. He was maybe a little less serious and more jovial, but he just really brought the character to life. Arya's first "dancing lesson" was easily my favorite part of this episode.
1) Flashbacks nearly always terribly executed? Maybe we watch completely different programs. But many shows in recent years have cut aways that mesh seamlessly with what is going on in the actual timeline and are far more effective then.Skyweir said:Flashbacks are nearly always terribly executed.
I think the show has been pretty good at showing, not telling, through reactions and natural conversations. Sometimes there is a bit much exposition, but that is the nature of this kind of story.
As for the animal characters, they are in fact animals.
I haven't read the books and so far I find the series awesome. I think flashbacks would be suitable in some instances, but in this particular instance it was not necessary, the dialogue did all the work (even letting us imagine the event).LordOfTheDance said:The show people need to learn how to inform the audience of things without resorting to long boring exposition. I am enjoying the show but I can not imagine how someone who hasn't read the books would enjoy it.
Really on TV you have to show the audience not tell them. Like when Jaime and Ned were talking about the death of Ned's father and brother why in the world would they not have a flash back and actually show the audience.
Also I am with people here who are annoyed about the show forgetting about all the animal characters all of the time. Especially Ghost.
I would love to see the Robert and Rhaegar fight.dandahammer said:The exposition has been spot on sofar; although selfishly I want a flash back for the battle of the trident, with ser Arthur Dayne and the 'sword of the morning' "it was an oath..."
Nope. I am having a hard time picturing him acting tough with you-know-who though.PrinceOfShapeir said:Am I the only straight guy here who thought Lancel was somehow -incredibly- hot?
