why is brutal legend up there? you can turn the violence/swearing off and why is Ghostbusters a replacement for that game?
its the idiot governement they used to think that comics had the same effectarchvile93 said:When will people learn that playing violent games doesn't automatically turn you into some sort of serial rapist and murderer Hitler clone? The first game I played was Doom fucking 2 when I was six and I loved it, but I also have yet to go out and kill somebody.
Yes, but there is the good Cole too who is 100% selfless. Also, when you are evil Cole the game does it's absolute best to let you know that you are an ass and everyone hates you. Once again, I'll say this goes back to the violence in infamous being cartoony.Sandwich Man said:It's not the violence alone, it's the sentiment behind it. As far as I know (I haven't completed it yet, admittedly) any violence acts in Borderlands are commited for a good cause. I know there's the vault, but it seems like the characters do go out of their way to do good most of the time, whereas the violence evil Cole commits is entirely for self gratification, and on a wider scale.jboking said:There was one that I was wondering about. Surely, Demons Souls would give children nightmares...but replacing that with Uncharted 2. It's not scary, but it definitely doesn't seem like it's suitable for a younger audience.
"This, kids, is what we call sexual tension."
Yeah, but the violence in Infamous is incredibly cartoony. Even though Borderlands has a cartoony look, the type of violence they use makes more sense than shooting electricity out of your hands.
As for the L4D2 - Overlord 2. yeah, I don't see the connection there.
Well yeah, but they hardly encourage playing as good Cole. Look at the title of the game, for a start. I don't see what's cartoony about it either. Is it because there's no blood? I saw people writhing in agony after having several lightening bolts rammed up their backside, there was nothing cartoony there.jboking said:Yes, but there is the good Cole too who is 100% selfless. There is the difference between the name of the game and the actual content. The content encourages you being a good guy by making people treat you better when you are a good guy(and when the TV dude shuts the fuck up). Can you shoot lightning bolts in reality? There you go. Cartoony, as in impossible to recreate in reality, violence. Whereas picking up a gun and shooting someone up is entirely possible to do.Sandwich Man said:Well yeah, but they hardly encourage playing as good Cole. Look at the title of the game, for a start. Yeah, I was agreeing with this in the my first post and still am. Drake is not child friendly.Still doesn't explain Drake either. He's the one I'm aiming this at, rather than Cole. What's going to cause more harm in the long run? 'Hey, shooting zombies is fun!' or 'Hey, having no regard whatsoever for anything or anyone that doesn't benefit me is awesome!'
