I have noticed more and more recently the amount of bait and switch websites. Let me clarify. I am sure everyone has been lured in by Facebook group, or attempted to watch or see something and within a couple seconds the screen goes dark and hits you with an automatic advertiser, spammer, or survey site. I have been experiencing this so often and it is literally driving me insane. I don't believe there should be a requirement to view an uncopywrited material. I find this absolutely ridiculous, and, well, wrong. I know the internet has never been trustworthy but this is just ridiculous, who agrees.

Is this supposed to have discussion value? Not to be a dick, but pretty sure everbody agrees with your statement. Escapist, however, doesn't do that, so I'm not clear on why you posted this here. I guess I'm asking if there's a point to this thread. So, is there?

Never noticed this problem, either that or I am having a hard time deciphering what exactly you are talking about.

Soooo... I guess I don't hang around the same sites you do. You should stay away from those seedy ones at the other end of town, all they do is try to sell you Viagra and asked you personal questions so they can steal your credit card.

I only have issues with those "OMG DISNEYS HIDDEN SECRET IN THIS PHOTOS!" groups on FB, Because you join them to see said photo, and its all a load of BS. ¬¬

Those types of groups should be taken down immediately, and they need to create a "Block all application request" button on FB too, im sick of my friends throwing, biting & Sending farmville requests my way.

I've got a simple way to avoid that. Not to use facebook at all!!!

OT: Why are we talking about biological stuff? I don't see how that is relevant to this thread. Also I just don't go to many non this and news websites

I didn't mind too much when you had to join a Facebook group to see a picture. But if it goes any farther than that, e.g. navigating to a separate website, I just have a burst of will-power and leave it. As for anything else, I have enough experience to tell when links or videos are fake.

As much as I like this one it might die after MM. I like hei and the gang and all but I feel like Urahara better describes me:p

I haven't hit any adverts in about 4 months.

Firefox + Add Blocker plus = Internet viewing bliss.

I suggest you get it this second if it's a problem for you.
Totally. The only problem I've found is that some video players don't like it. But Adblocker is just heaven.

I've had adblocker for a while and still get a few ads, but after a few clicks they usually go away.
But if when they update and come back I use Greasemonkey to get rid of it, but only on sites I frequent a lot.

Ad block plus works to some degree though.
