As I finished off another round of League of Legends(Dota clone for those who don't know), my team had lost the round and I still managed to do fairly well. My team and enemy team both said that I was one of the better players with the character I was they had seen for a while. Simply put I felt proud.

Ever been complimented for your skills by your team or the enemy team while playing online? If so what game and what was it for and well how did you feel? Did you look back and see how far you have progressed in said game?

Counter-Strike players don't get compliments. We get abused for 'h4x' and called 'nerds' and other fun things.

Compliments are nice in any context.

No.

No man in the world can keep his pride when I dominate them as hard as I do!

OK, that's not true. I mute every person I see online, so I wouldn't be able to hear criticism or praise

I find it rare to ever be complimented by other players, allies or enemies.
Although sometimes I do get complimented for avenging team-mates.
I do sometimes compliment other players, if they do well or are skilled players.
Or sometimes if they are just lucky.

I've only ever gotten one compliment (It was on Cod4) although it simply said. "Hi your pretty good."

I remember one occasion where I played against MiracleofSound on COD4.

He said I was good. It made me feel all warm inside.

I then was promptly owned by a team of screaming 12 yr. olds.

I usually play Medic in TF2, and I occasionally get compliments from my teammates or thanks for keeping them alive. That's always very nice to hear, I like to be credit to team, especially in a game like TF2 where teamwork is what it is all about.

Ah counter strike, reminds me of this time when me and a friend went onto a server i visited frequently and this one particular time both me and my friend were banned for playing well or to the admin it was called hacks. If i could play like that time all the time though i'd be suspicious too.

Once on Halo 3 I came top on a deathmatch by a considerable ammount (which was unusual for me) and after the match I got a message over live of "Dude you were really good...you piss me off!" So I guess thats kind of a compliment.

On a MMO I used to play I was the healer-class and sometimes got messages of thanks for not letting people die or doing a better job than people higher level than me.

On Counter-Strike years ago I was playing a clan match and it was a bit one sided by the end, their team was a bit crap so it became more of a mess-around match, and as I was currently our team's top player their whole team changed their names to "Living in fear of (my name)" which was pretty funny.

I'm usually rubbish online, but I do my best to compliment players that best me fairly. I figure they don't often get compliments so it lightens up the atmosphere in the game.

Happened to me while playing grid. We spent racing live 5 Euro Touring tournaments, and in each race me and a british guy always took the first two places, and from then on we tried to take first place, clean, no bumping. At the end of that he sent me a message saying that I was the only one in a long time that was able to race at the same level that him (he won to be honest, but barely). It felt good since he was really really good.

CS is the only game where you can be taking on a five-man team on their own clan server, solo, and they're all being told your location by a spectating admin. friend, and using the admin. commands to give themselves money and weapons and you're still winning, you won't get a compliment. You'll get banned.
