I'm having a weird problem and wondering if anyone can lend some insight.
I have an Acer Aspire One - it's one of those mini-laptops. Every few months it seems that the performance drops by half, inexplicibly. It runs perfectly, but after a certain amount of time, doing something like running a web browser and Windows Media Player lags it. And it takes about five minutes to boot up. So far this has happened with two different operating systems (XP Home SP3 and XP Pro SP3), there are no viruses that my software has caught, there's nothing running in the background that is eating too much system resource, and the only solution it seems is to format the entire computer and start from scratch.
Has anyone else had this problem or heard of this? I've does some basic searching and found nothing. Any replies would be welcome. Thanks.
