Computer Component Online Stores/Graphics Card Suggestions?

Hey Escapists, I'm in need of a new graphics card. My current card (GeForce 8500 GT something or another) has done me well, but I'm finding that newer games are requiring a higher card model.

I'm considering sticking with GeForce and upgrading to an 8800, and that'll only cost me about $100 on Amazon. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I should shop or if I should get a different make/model graphics card then the 8800 I'd appreciate the help.

I wouldn't rule out ATI if your budget is only $100, some of their cards are quite nice as well. As for online, Amazon isn't a bad choice but tigerdirect is good and I have also used newegg for comparison shopping before.

i'm going to say stick with GeForce and don't go with ati

anyways it depends on where you live, sometimes local stores can be cheaper for products than online

Seriously, for that price range, a 4850 or 4770 is best. I can vouch for the 4850. Lets me play crysis wars on medium-high. Every other game high. Although I think it requires a dual slot cooler. But then what doesn't these days?

A lot of stores will price match. Find a card you like online then check local stores and see if they'll beat it. (sears will by 10%, best buy is similar) only downside is local stores dont have the wide variety you can find online.

The 9600GT is little inferior to the 8800GT but there isn't a lot in it. But as other people are saying, at that price range a Radeon 4850 is the way to go

The thing is I've found an 8800 for $89 and a 9800 for $96. That's a lot less than $120.

$95 4850 [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824]. That site has good prices on most components.

Thanks guys, I ended up talking to one of my friends and we worked out which card would be perfect for my set up. Ended up getting a pretty good deal out of it too. ;]
