Alright,

So my brother who must be half retarded decided to move our PC to our dining room a month ago, and my sister who always watches over my grandmother's demon dog(But never actually WATCHES it)have destroyed our home PC...

Anyway, the dog pissed on the computer, and now it is broke to shit.

We need a new computer, and I am tired of using this 7 year old laptop that only has 1 hour of battery life if you are doing anything that involves sound or moving pictures. (And plus, it's got intell intergrated graphics...) I've looked around, and for a computer for me personally, I'm thinking of getting an alienware laptop with some of the money I have saved up, but in getting this, I'd have to sell this laptop for about 250 bucks. that would leave my family without a computer, and I wouldn't have enough saved up until my birthday (around 2 months from now) I would feel bad having a computer all to myself, while my family didn't. (And plus, they would probably use it to shit like they use this one...)

So I searched around for desktops, one that would work for the entire family, me, my brother, my sister, and my parents.

The solution I came to was Visionman, however, I want your take on this.

The computers are cheap, and the models I'm looking at could play most of the games I want, to top that off they have plenty of memory and an alright processor... it seems fishy though... The computer would be around 700 bucks...

I'm not intersted in building my own PC, I need one pre built that I can buy.

So tell me what you think of the brand if you have had any experance with it, and if it's not good, it would be nice if you could lead me to some alternitives (BTW- The alternitives don't have to be that good for gaming, but if they can play lower end games, that would be a plus)

Thank you

I don't think I can help you on pre-build PCs but 700 bucks for a family pc?? Really??

Well it's your money e.t.c. but you can have a pretty decent machine for half of that money.

Well, I was speaking on the ability of being good for gaming as well. Those run into the thousands most times. And plus, this one has great specs, and the only dell model I see that would work for my family alone is 100 bucks more than it! and It comes with a keyboard and mouse.

Look around for towers, monitors, & keyboards & speakers & you can build one from scratch yourself. My brother-in-law did that by buying stuff off of eBay.

You could probably buy the cheapest Dell model you can find and then buy a good gaming rig for yourself if you really want to, just wait for a little more money.

Alienware is a ripoff. You are paying for a brand.

It might be better to look for a more up to date version though. I pulled that off google.

Before thinking about getting an new computer, I would first start at finding place were the computer cannot be pissed on by your dog.

just skimming on a few websites, a Dell tower only seems quite decent enough and only $500.

going by brand can unnecessarily be a bad stigma although it is worth while for any computer model/brand to look for common flaws such as overheating.

Thousands?
I built my PC 3 years ago from a budget of no more than 450 euros and can pretty much run modern games, modern warfare 2 on max settings for example.
I'm sorry but 700 euros for a family pc that is probably going to be used mainly for browsing and casual gaming is ridiculous.

My dog never pees inside the house, my grandmother's dog does.

But if we were to get a new computer, it would be put in the basement, where it is safe.

Yeah, this. Get a cheap-ass computer for everyone else, get yourself something good. If they can't take care of it, well thats on them.

buy a crappy little laptop (lets face it most family members think face-book and you-tube is the be all and end all of the internet) for dirt cheep. Then get your self a custom pc probably for around the same price, well maybe a couple &100 over.

Buying a PC is not something you want to rush into even more so if your strapped for cash then if your not. Also I think you will find most ppl will say make your own or get it custom made and built.

Name your country (so ppl know the ruff cost for parts)

The games you want to run

Your max budget, and other things that might be impotent. Never know some one might do the research more you and give you the best options.

Get two laptops. It may (will) cost a little more, but everyone can win. Get a cheap laptop, like one of the new AMD fusion ones for family, and an okay gaming one like a Lenovo Y560 for yourself.

Or, get any of these three, they're great deals.

I've had good experiences with I Buy Power and Alienware tends to be REALLY overpriced on everything besides their Mx laptops.

We already have a crappy little laptop, It's mine, but I let everyone use it. And my brother would need a computer with lots of hardrive space, fast processor, my sister is like what you discribed, my dad would need an alirght processor and memory, and my mom uses computers for paying bills...

And I wouldn't want to completely relly on the Laptop I want to get, so I would like to have a desktop to fall back on.

Exchange rates aren't really that important when buying electronics ,it's besides the point.
Anyway just check out BlindTom's chart, it's pretty self explanatory. I'm sure there are computer shops who can build themselves a pc with the components of your choosing, if not find someone who can :p. Building a PC yourself can easily save you 250+ bucks, just sayin'
Good Luck

Tigerdirect.com has some good prebuilds. Alienware is old news. Like blindtom was saying, you're paying for a name. Honestly with the modular design of new computers you can build you own (yes I know you said you didn't want to build one) for under 500 and that can play current gen games.
Also you may want to go and just get yourself your own computer. Your family, if they want a pc should go and get a FAMILY pc, if you want a gaming rig, buy it for you. I endlessly kicked my family off of my old rig when I had to share(about 10 years ago).
Also if you're near PA I could sell you my last gaming rig.

I'm getting an M11x laptop from alienware...

But anyway, Thanks for showing me that site, If I ever needed an actual gaming desktop, I'd go with that.

Make your dog pay for it.

Well Newegg has some decent prebuilt pcs, but if you have the know how to build on your own, then go for it.
Seems like that would make the most sense. Make a family computer, and one for your self. Shouldn't be all that expensive, but you'd have to look around to see.

If you're not getting it for size or battery life, I'd recommend something like this: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/notebooks/ideapad/y-series/y560 which is better in processor and GPU. The battery life is ~2 hours when I was playing Minecraft, but it gets pretty hot. I plug it into my 1900x1080 monitor and it plays all the games I've tried besides Metro 2033 at high or very high on full res. Also has two slots for SSDs, if you care.

Well, I like the portability and battery life of the M11x, and Plus, I'm using Dells outlet to wait for a spacific model of it (250gb or 320gb hardrive, 4gb ram, previously ordered new) and that would be arround 700 bucks.
