CCleaner wants me to pay. I don't have a credit card, and my parents can't spare, so anything I can do free?

On a related note, how does one permanently disable programs that run without being used?Things like Adobe Reader, which I don't really use.

windows key + r

type "msconfig" without quotes

go to startup tab

disable whatever

I think that's how it goes, haven't used windows in ages

How do I uninstall Steam? Ass/Remove programs (yes I noticed what I typed) says something else has access to it, and I have no idea what's going on.

RAGE! RAGE AND ANGER! My computer is still running over the RAM size. I'm going to try that defraggler thing, and if that doesn't work, I may ragequit and send it to Staples.

Oh, wait wait wait, I never got its temperature...

Well most logical problem is your running out of Hard drive space. Second potentially the ctrl alt delete. Then look at processes you may have a collosal amount running. Small things usually add up with computers like that.

Did those. It could be the temperature, I tried the F2 menu during restart, but I couldn't see it, you know where I could see that?

i'm going to say there's a virus or malware on it and it's something the scanner you are using can't find

what virus scanner are you using?

no no no no that's not how you do it, msconfig will give you errors

have to hack the registry, it's much easier and better over all

the keys you need to look at are

my computer\hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run\

and

my computer\hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run\

first off LOOK at what's running and check that it is needed and then delete the key

then you should also disable some services

this site is pretty handy for it

Alright everybody!

My computer's temperatures are normal... I think? The Tj. Max was about 90(degrees)C, but the core was room temperature. Should I let it cool off? I use avast! antivirus, free version. That usually gets most things.

You need to make sure that you are logged out of Steam and that the program is off before you can attempt an uninstall.

now that's strange, all the times I've used msconfig I've never had any errors at all, aside from the standard one that says that shit's been changed.

maybe it was because I didn't fuck around too much because my computer didn't have too much shit in it, I don't know, but I always thought that messing around with the registry could have worse consequences if done incorrectly than if you just took some wrong things off startup (aside from absolutely crucial things, naturally)

...That worked. Thank you.

For some reason, I think the choppy-ass sound is completely irrelevant to my storage problem. Any ideas?

I was about to type a whole load of shit in a drink - fuelled session of helpfulness, but honestly with half a gig of ram you're not going to be doing much with any speed. get more ram in there. ram it in. otherwise, I personally would say it's a lost cause, and not worth the hassle

I do believe that the music issue is unrelated, and honestly, my computer's been working quickly and perfectly for the last little while, just recently it's been off. Nothing added the specific day I took notice, but let me fill you all in on the specs.

HEY, LISTEN! HEY HEY, LISTEN!

Alright, screw my RAM, I'll live. No, the problem is more likely the audio driver. Does anyone have any suggestions? I currently use the installed Realtek.

Well, I found out the problem, thanks everyone. Hard drive. I was closing the lid far too often.

Now, D&D Online. I downloaded it, played it for a bit, went to bed, the next day it had to upgrade. It took a long time, and I think that in my fiddling around for cleaning up the computer, I accidentally deleted the Turbine program or something. Anyways, it finished downloading the upgrade, and I went to play. It never opened, there was an error.

So, how do I re-download the game? Need I make a whole new account, another email? Or is there a way around it?

EDIT: As luck would have it, the download file and setup was still in the computer, all is well.
